Dash problem ?

I did a few searches to see if anyone has had any problems, but nothing turned up:

I pulled the Hypermotard out of the garage after it sat for 2 days. There was a crack in the instument glass (plastic). running from the odometer area, over, then down. It continues relatively straight down through the black ABS plastic as well.

I KNOW it wasn't there the other day, and nothing fell on it in the garage. There are no marks on it, other than the crack itself. I had the local dealer look at it; they took pictures, and have filed a claim, but I don't have a lot of hope that it will be covered. The whole unit is rubber mounted, so I can't see them not claiming owner abuse of some sort, but I'm stumped.

Anyone hear of anything similar ?

You were not drinking that night?

To be serious now, I had this happened once on an S4 Foggy. A minor drip of brake fluid did hit the gauges and the screen started to crack, did not noticed it right away so was to late for saving anything.

When I picked up my Hyper from the dealer I inspected the whole bike before I took off. Next day I rode to work and as I was showing the bike off to co-workers I noticed the left side exhaust panel was cracked at the bottom where it bolts onto the frame. I took the seat off and noticed that it was also broken on the inside where it bolts onto the frame. The dealer said they never had that problem reported before but they replaced it free of charge. My understanding is that it was tightened too much and the vibration broke it. I don't know if vibration has anything to do with your glass braking but look into it. It's a possibility

Didn't happen to me, but my friend bought an S4RS this year and before he turned 500 miles he noticed a slight crack in the plastic surrounding the speedo gauge. Once again, no marks or any sign of anything ever touching it and he knows he never hit it with anything. A week later that crack had grown to be a large crack halfway across the gauge face and there was moisture behind it. When he brought it in for the 600 miles service he told the dealer that he honestly did not hit it or have any idea how the crack started and the delare replaced it for free. Good thing because the cost of an S4RS gauge cluster is $700!
