Spring adjuster Öhlins rear shocks

Description from Kämna in Germany.

From aluminum manufactured spring shim for Öhlins shock struts. Functioned purely mechanically. Screw on simply. The spring temper is adjustable with this ring by hand. For the assistance the lever can be used. The ring becomes secured with set-screws. Simply however effectively! Scope of supply: Lever and ring.

Seems to be a really good solution for the problem with the alu/plastic oem nut on the Öhlins shock.

Not sure I understand.Does the set screw "set" into the shock body threads?

Sure looks like, I think I'd rather have a second one as a locking ring instead of screwing up my threads.

Thumbs down

Yep, that type of lock system will "dent" a couple of shock threads, only to be cleaned up again when you turn the adjuster, but the "dent" on the threads will still be there....so if you adjust your preload alot, you'll have a "denty" shock! but worse yet, if you forgot to loosen the set screw, and went and adjusted the shock spring, you could wipe out a lot of threads! a double aluminum nut set-up or a huge nylock, would seem like the way to go. Aloha Alex

I replaced the platic unit with an aluminum one from Ohlins USA in North Carolina. The part was about 30 bucks. They were aware of the problems with the plastic adjuster.

Contact info for them? My Hyper is going Matris, but I'd like to replace the plastic ring on the stocker so it's right.

For "S" owners with Ohlins shock that have the plastic jam nut below

the metal one, you now have 2 options. Option #1 first leave it alone, and if

the shock gives you a problem, IT IS a Ducati problem, because Ducati had

Ohlins make the shock to THEIR specifications, and so it will be covered

by your warrantee, providing your in the bike's warrantee period. Option #2

Ohlins USA, is AWARE of the problem, and they want to help! if you send

them your shock, (you pay for shipping) and $20.76, cost for the aluminum

ring, part #531-01 they will do all the repair labor for free, and send you

back your shock. As a bonus, if you tell Ohlins what model Ducati you have,

your weight, your skill level, they will for $89.99, install the correct spring

rate spring for you, just like a CUSTOM made shock.

West Coast riders, send your shock to Walt Schonauer, (Ohlins sales Rep)

12301 Mills Ave. #25 Chino, CA 91710 Tel. (951) 712-9463

East Coast riders, send the shock to Ohlins USA, Inc. 703-C

Old Spartanburg Rd. Hendersonsville, NC 28792 Tel. (828) 692-4525

So now we ALL know, Alex
