The Tank Slapper.

90% of the world already knows about this but, this is for the other 10%.

Just about every bike I have owned has been black with the "just look at it and it scratches" paint. I've always used the tank slapper product to save my paint. So I ordered some for my Hyper. I thought it would be a pain in the ass due to the shape of the tank.

I have to say it was the easiest install of the product yet. I've put it on 6 different bikes. It's cut perfectly and you don't have to spend an hour trying to get the bubbles out. I was surprised to find a piece for the cover over the brake light included. I was not expecting it to come with the kit. I ordered the $1.00 squidgy with mine and just put it in a sock for the install and it worked great. Just keep it wet while you are doing the install.

If you have used it before you know it will keep your paint looking new for years. You can not tell it's on your motorcycle once you do the install.

Great stuff for $15.00.

If you own a black bike this is a must.

so what's the difference between the tankslapper kits and the 3m kits (aside from the smart arse answer of $14.00)?

is the material that much better on the 3m kits?

it's cool that they have a kit for the mh900evoluzione as well as the hypertard ... now i can get both my current ducs protected.

I think the 3M kit is more permanent. Not 100% sure but, I think that's the case. Call them. They are good people to deal with. If you screw up a piece they will normally send you a new one free of charge. At least in my experience.

I would just go with the standard. You can reapply it if needed.

The 3M stuff has adhesive on it. The Tankslapper stuff is just held on with static and you can remove and replace it multiple times. The 3m is a one time thing.

I've used the Tankslapper on 3 bikes and love it.

I've used both; and honestly they are both good. However, the 3m film is thicker and better for front protection.

Here's a hint: Buy a sheet of 3M film off of ebay and cut and use how tou please. I do the front of all my tanks and the sides by my knee's. I think this is better than the Carbon fiber tank protector because it keeps the tanks beauty; imo. On my new 1098 I'm going to cut a piece down my the kickstand fairings, because its an easy area of plastic to scuff with your boot. I bought a sheet for $20 or $30ish. I do all my bikes and friends. Even made rear mud protectors on my Frontier.

I too have used the Tankslapper stuff on three bikes and have always had good luck with it.

Customer support for me has been equally good. There were a few pieces that I wanted in the 3M and Tankslapper cut them for me no problem.

I'll continue to use the products they sell.
