trade my hyper s for an 848?
I had an offer to trade my stock hyper s for an 848 with a full termi system. I wasn't really considering this before but the offer came up and it got me thinking.
I've rode an 848 before but only around town. It certainly wasn't in its element there. I'd imagine its a lot of fun out on the back roads.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

My friend rides an 848 and it's a very nice bike. That being said, it's not for me.The only time I would consider trading bikes would be for a track day,but then gimme back my bike!As for backroads,I think the Hyper is at the top of the heap.I don't need to go 120 mph to have fun.

for me it would boil down to riding characteristics . affordability has already been somewhat answered for you. i personally think the 848 is one of the great superbikes out there, and if that's what you want then it might just work for you. but again, it's a totally different bike than the HM (#1 hooligan and much else), and that's for you to decide.
what do you like most? or what's most important to you?
best success with this one

If you do make the trade,be sure to swap the wheels when he's not looking.

I ride a KTM 950 Supermoto (kind of a spiritual cousin to the Hypermotard, cept it's faster ), and love the "do everything" attitude of the bike, but I will admit there are times when I kinda miss having a hard core Ducati sportbike around.
But then I remember what I do on a bike and realize I'm riding the perfect bike for me.
Think it through carefully. I've never ridden a Hyper, but I'd imagine short of racetrack lap times, there's really nothing the 848 can do that the Hyper can't.

Don't do it. Unless you plan to do a half dozen trackdays per year, the Hyper is a much better streetbike and all arounder. I traded my S2R for a 999. I regret it every minute unless I'm at the track. Its sheer torture on the interstate.

I have both. If forced to keep one it would be 848 by a very close margin.
The bikes feel very different... I do come from sportbikes though, so YMMV

having said that, after months of Hyper commuting, took my 848 to work three times last week and now I will be fighting an alleged speeding charge in court in January...
