Motorcycle Show San Mateo Saturday
FYI, some of us who are going to the motorcycle show in San Mateo on Saturday 20-Dec will be meeting first at the Prince of Wales for lunch and a pint or two in the 12:30PM timeframe. It is 1/2 block from the show.
We usually sit out on the back patio, which can be very cold, so dress accordingly.
Prince of Wales Pub
106 E. 25th Street
San Mateo, CA

This place wasn't much to write home about when Jack owned it and I have only been there a couple times there since the new owners have been running it. So what it will be like now is anyone's guess.

Didn't make it on Saturday but I went today.Highlights had to have been my first look at the Streetfighter(impressive numbers, but a little "busy" looking)and as much as I hate to admit it, the Nieman Marcus Hyper. The tri-colore color scheme looked nice in person. All in all, pretty disappointing.

I had a good time at the show and generally enjoyed it.
Perhaps not too surprising, I spent the majority of my time in the Ducati and KTM booths.
I remain in awe of the 1098 & 1198s. I find it interesting that despite all the other manufacturers chasing Ducati's share of the sport bike market segment, the others just seem to miss the mark.
The Streetfighter and similar bikes in that genre look like discombobulated jumbles of forks and spoons welded together. Details are interesting and well executed, but overall, there is no integrated design that ties it all together. I guess I'm just not into the transformer look.
I gave every KTM North America rep I could find shit about the lack of a 690 Adventure. In the course of those discussions, it was suggested that RC8s are sitting on showroom floors not selling well here in the US, but are selling well elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong,I can't think of a better way to spend a rainy day.Well, maybe a few.It was definitely worth the price of admission especially since some random dude handed me a free pass as I walked up to the ticket booth.
And yes, the Ducati Superbikes are beautiful.I'm reminded of that fact every day as I try to navigate around my boss's 848 in our crowded shop. There's just something about the skinny, uncluttered look of the twin that the inlines can't touch. So what's it gonna be Bill,1198 or are you going to help them move one of those RC8's?!
One more thing I've got to mention, my Hyper gets more looks and comments than his 848 and it pisses him off!
