Are You Ready to Moto? In the Snow?

Here are shots from my morning commute on Skyline Blvd and Old Page Mill Rd.

Time to break out the dirt bikes….!

Wow, we never got the kind of snow when I was a kid growing up in Burlingame. Every winter I reaffirm my decision to move to SoCal.

Hey Bill, while this is not an every day occurance up there, it's not exactly a tropical morning commute. How do you beat the cold on a "good" day?My friend and I like to get an occasional early morning ride in before work, but I usually end up being to cold to enjoy the uncrowded roads. He rides an 848 (which is like humping a heater) so it doesn't effect him so much
Maybe I'm just a cold blooded puss in need of some heated gear.

I have grip heaters on most of my bikes and they are my secret weapon.

I don't leave my house if the temperature is less than 39 F since the temperature in some of the pockets can be 3-4 degrees colder with frost on the pavement.

Even at that temperature, the grip heaters are generally enough without winter gloves, however, my thumbs can get cold. I also wear longies on the legs and either a Firstgear Kilimanjaro or a Vanson Swedish motorcycle cop jacket.

Update: I broke down at the motorcycle show in San Mateo and bought $500 worth of heated gear. Jacket liner, gloves and dual controller.
