hypermotard gathering to set record, @ laguna motogp 2009
ciao a tutti -
a ducati owners club president friend of mine is organizing a monster gathering in 2009, to set a guinness world record. the meeting will be in san luis obispo, sometime in the summer. he is shooting to gather over 600 monster owners for the event, which will beat the previous record of 405, set this past year in europe.
this got me thinking that we should hold a hypermotard gathering to set a world record for the largest number of hypermotards gathered.
so, who's up for a hypermotard gathering at the 2009 laguna seca motogp event, july 3 - 5?
i bet we can count on the so cal usual suspects to ride up, and we can get most if not all the nor cal hypertard owners to attend. how about hypertard owners from oregon, arizona, nevada, washington, utah, etc...?
if we get enough hypermotard owners to sign-up, i can see if ducati north america can set up special parking for us, either on the island, or right off the island where the overflow parking is located.
if interested, add your name to this thread, and we will start a list. depending on the number of owners we get signed up, perhaps christian can work with me on getting other events for the weekend planned, like a bbq dinner, or something.
a presto,
johnc

I'm in Texas, but...
I'm interested, and I had a bike out there back in 2005. Flew and rented cages the years after that.
If this gets enough airplay I'll figure a way to get mine there!
Thanks!

I've never seen more than 2 hypers in person in real life. So, 3 would break my record.

I will definitely be there on Friday and Saturday, but this year I will miss the race on Sunday
That was very poor planning on my side...
A few months ago, I was so happy as my wife managed to use our left over United miles to go to France (of course no direct flights, but felt good to use these miles before they disappear...), a couple of weeks later I realized that we are taking off on race day, damned
Anyway, I'll be there on Friday/Saturday, if we want to plan a camping spot, we'd better plan WAY in advance, you know how everything fills up quickly there...

I'm in 100% ... right now. (never know what'll happen by July)
I recently spoke to one of my customers who happens to know the woman in charge of Laguna Seca (found this out while discussing our recent trackday). Perhaps I can have him pull some strings for us...perhaps GUARANTEED island parking. If this thing fleshes out I'm willing to do my part.
