Fuel Injector Electric Connector Removal

I am installing my PC III and after getting all the wires routed I was trying to figure out how to remove the electic connectors that attach to the injector. There is a little metal clip that goes around the connect to hold it in place and it is recessed in the plastic housing. The same connector on the PC can be squeezed to release it.

Any suggestions on how to get the clip off without tearing shit all up? You can see the clip in this photo (a few photos down). It looks like this guy hacked up the injector quite a bit. I want it to be clean if possible.

PCIII and quick release fuel clip question

Out!

Well, I went out and looked at it again and figured it out. With this clip if you push n the back of it, the little hook on the opposite end will push out past the recessed area. Then you can get a long screwdriver behind the hood and pop it off to the side. It requires a little finesse and you might have to try a few times, but you can get it without tearing it up.

I did manage to nick the paint on the bottom of my frame with my needle nose when removing the clip from the housing. I guess I will have to get the Color Rite pen out for some touch up work. Good timing.............I see a few rock chips on my fork protectors too and one on my beak.

Out!

Hey Axe, thanks for the info. I'm up for a PCIII usb and Duc Shop velocity stack/K&N filter install in the next couple of days. I got the PCIII from them as well, preloaded with their dyno'd map. Should be way cool.

I am going to have mine on the dyno again late this week or early next. I will get a map customized per each cylinder. I will post the results. That will probably be it for me, but I may do the velocity stacks if I get a wild hair.

Yeah, the only thing I am disappointed in with my PC is that I could not install the unit on the back side of the battery, since the wire harness was not long enough. It would have been a clean install there and I have plenty of room without the EXUP servo. Instead it has to be on the side of the battery and you can see it through the subframe.

I think the best bang for your buck power mod is the velocity stacks. DukePilot also has a good write up with lots of pics on his velocity stack install. Check it out!
