Loose seat on the Hypermotard

I've got one of these questions again...
I find the seat of my Hypermotard to be quite loose when put in place. I make sure that the front is properly slotted in, and the back screw is properly secured... but still. When I hold the middle part of seat, it tends to move side to side quite freely.

Is that a common thing on the Hypermotard.

Oh, yes I forgot, I'm quite new to the Hypermotard. So forgive me if my questions are a little lame.

Actually, when I first took the seat off, I was quite surprised to notice that the seat is only secured from the two U-bolts in the front and the one rear screw.

stock seat only made it from dealer to house & the new dp went on that night. could not believe how much play it had from middle all the way back. but after i put it up on the service stands (front stand) how bogus that thing is, the seat wasen't an issue any longer.

ciao a tutti -

yes, the seat (stock AND dp versions) will wiggle side-to-side, when installed. this is due to the rubber bump stops located on the sub-frame, not being tall enough to contact the seat bottom.

solution: remove seat and install appropriate thickness of adhesive backed neoprene foam tape (found in hardware stores, in the door section, used as door insulation). for my dp seat, it took two strips of this adhesive backed neoprene foam (thickness of neoprene foam is approx. 1/4 inch) stuck on top of each other on each side of the seat bottom.

now, seat is stable ... no wobbles.

if you can't fix it with duct tape (and/or neoprene tape), it ain't worth fixin.
