New wheels

I was fortunate and picked up a set of S forged wheels for my Standard Hyper. I would like to dismount the stock wheels and mount the new wheels after having the dealer install the new BT016's I also purchased.

I noted that the front wheel has no bearings so I assume I need to transfer the bearings from the old wheel to the new. Any other tricks or tips?

The rear nut seems like it may be difficult to remove, I believe I have a 46mm socket any other problems I should watch out for?

I have learned that asking questions of learned folks saves much mental anguish later on!

All help appreciated!

If you don't have a blind bearing puller I'd just let the dealership do it - they can sometimes be a pain in the ass! Rear nut is no problem - use an impact or a big ass breaker bar.

Desmoworks,

Thanks for the tips! I will let the dealer do it as I don't have a blind puller.

Supposedly you can use a drift to get them out too, but I've never had any luck with this.

I hear ya. I have used a drift before to destroy perfectly good bearings!

Get new bearings...

Why not just install new wheel bearings? I get most of my bearings at my
local bearings & drive shop, if you can get the spec number off the bearings, you
can get the same bearings or better ones for 1/3 of what Ducati charges. Aloha Alex

Good thought!

My stock bearings are very low mileage, but I'll check into the cost of replacements

Thanks

Thanks

I have found that alot of times you damage the bearings when removing. Just fit new bearings. It is way easier in the long run.
I am pretty sure you will have to buy or make an inner spacer for the bearings as well.
