motorcycle conspicuity lighting for the hyper
So, I swapped out the tiny amber lights inside the headlight for blue LED replacements and installed a blue LED for the license plate light last month.
Since the change, not one cage has cut me off or forced me change my course. It was soo sweeeet. Right up until Johnny Law pulled me over this morning.
Any Ideas on legal conspicuity lighting for the hyper?

ciao treadmarks -
i already installed a blue LED for license plate, but am having issues trying to figure out what bulb type the rear turn indicators are. any ideas of what LED replacement these bulbs require?
another good mod to increase visibility is a plug and play vizi-tec brake light module ... http://www.vizi-tec.com/DUCATI/INSTA...YPERMOTARD.pdf
a presto,

You should be able to use colored lighting other than blue (usually reserved for law enforcement on M/C's depending on which state you ride in). Maybe some small LED's (I know Whelen makes a few for MC attachment).
I had a HID on my old GS that was freakin awesome; way brighter than stock without being obnoxious and making me a target for cops. I might mount one in the Hyper.

Just ordered a set of magic blinker converters from custom dynamics. They will allow our bar mounted handguard blinkers to remain lighted at full power as running lights, then blink when the turn signal is activated.

That is clever stuff, you will be well visible with that.

I'm going with HID driving lights. I had 75W halogen spot driving lights on my VRod, and never had a problem with cops. I was talking to a county cop at NJDMV admiring my bike and he said no problem as long as they are aimed right.

As for the plate light, so long as it lights the plate there shouldn't be a prob. Different agencies in CO. have different views, but I agree w/ the NJ cop, so long as they are aimed correctly (Not shining on the cruiser's light bar as you ride by doing your best unicycle impression) there shouldn't be a problem.
Don't take that at gospel though, all though I am local fuzz, I take a riders perspective on safety and being seen by soccer moms bombing along in their SUV's looking at everything but where they are going. I tend to let alot slide because I dodge the same idiots on the road when I'm not at work.

Wow, you just gotta' like a guy like that... How come there aren't any members of the constabulary like you in my neck of the woods???
Here, if the local LEO's stop you for speeding they will look for other things to write you for, even if you are just 5 to 10 MPH over. Of course, quite often they miss quite a bit... Like the fact I haven't run a license plate light on any number of bikes for the past couple of decades.
That said, many of the Texas DPS officers can be very fair, like two I encountered in Big Bend. They'll talk with you a bit, then write you a warning, and send you on your way if you aren't WAY over...
Thanks for being a "Good Cop"!
