S Carbon v DP Carbon

Is the aftermarket DP carbon, a better quality?

I've noticed the finish is glossier with the DP stuff versus the pieces that come with the S model.

I'm not sure if the carbon's quality or manufacturing technique are better?

Not likely to be worse.

I bought DP Carbon Fiber fork protectors (not sure what you call 'em) for my base HM and the holes for the screws didn't align. I had to enlarge the holes by drilling into the carbon fiber. Anyone who's done this knows it ain't easy as there is a tendency for the carbon fiber weave to 'swirl' with the direction of the drilling action. From my own experience, the original CF parts from the S model are better quality.

Not totally sure about S carbon as I have the standard Hyper, but I bought some DP carbon heel guards a few months ago. Quality/craftsmanship is totally crap- milky in some areas, inconsistent finish, rough edges in spots- really bad work. Was looking at a BMW HP2 Sport the other day, and checked out it's heel guards- flawless. Now I know that it's $27,000 bike, so it's not a fair comparison by any stretch. I know people say that DP carbon is for racing, i.e. weight savings and functionality vs. aesthetics, so I won't get into that. I know there are many threads on this and it doesn't answer your question, but I got heated up again thinking about my crappy DP carbon after reading your post.
