Lightbulb Would you do it again?

As I have now posted in 2 other threads, my bike is totaled.

Question now exists, to buy an 09 (possible leftover 08) or not?

So, if you were in a predicament, would you do it again?

Unless you like the cosmetics of the 2009, you ain't really gaining much. You ought to be able to find a 2008 for a hell of a deal.

Out!

I'd hope that the 09 S front forks are better. I'd go for it... and be more careful on those cold tires from now on.

I get the feeling that you weren't quite over your Hyper phase. Get another 08 - same bike for HUGE discounts.

That is a really tough one... the looks, to me, are what would keep one with the Hyper.
  • Monster 1100S - Same engine as the Hyper (but improved) less weight, Ohlins front end.
  • Streetfighter- need to see one in the flesh but gotta be on the list.
  • The SuperDuke R has attitude and a lot of funk, but just not sexy like a Duc.
  • Low-mileage Hyper off eBay (or here) and save up for the next bike in the stable? I'd have a hard time springing for a shiny 2008 if there are good used ones for a steal.

The only question on 2008 v 2009 is that Kayaba front end. Anyone have any previous experience? I can't even think of another bike with a Kayaba fork.

you will get an 07/08 with all the bling added for alot less than a new 09 which you will then have to go an bling anyway or you will feel it isn't what you had. good low milers are out there for much less than the price of new. Oh and it will be run in so playtime straight away

If these new Kayabas internals are based on the forks used on the motocross bikes then they should be at least very tunable. Kayaba makes some awesome forks for modern bikes and many shops deal with them, but you never know what you will get on the Hyper and Ducati likes to cut corners sometimes... but once again if they are like the moto forks they will have springs options and valving possible.
