HOT Hyper
While riding my new Hypermotard today in Tucson traffic, the temp climbed to 266F and the bike stalled. I am new to Ducati and to air cooled in general. Is this considered hot for this bike? I know there is a stalling issue due to emissions and ECU in warm weather but how hot is hot for the Hyper. It only has 350 miles on it. Any help would be great. Thanks

The stalling is not normal but the temp is, for a stock bike. It gets a little better with more miles, but the richer mixture from a DP ECU will drop the temp as much as 30 deg in the same conditions.

I refuse to sit in traffic with my new Hyper so ive never had a overheat problem, I live in Houston and it gets pretty damn hot here
I cut thru traffic like a hot knife thru butter, Try it you will like it
It is air cooled engine so you cannot sit still idleing for an extended time

I have seen temps around that range, but never had any stalling issues. You may need to tweek you fuel settings. The dealer should be able to do this for you..............maybe under warranty.
Out!

the bike is still tight ( wont be run in till at least 1000 miles).Mine did the same at 600 km. Lots of threads on stalling ( if the problem continues).Standard ECU ( esp US version) is lean- buy Jasons Fatduc o2 sensor manipulator.
just my 2c

I have seen 260 going flat out ( not mph ), the oil temp warning light won't even come on before reaching around the 325 degree mark so you issue was not related to the temperature.

For stalling, open the air bleeds, for temp, mine stock ran up to 250 from Cottonwood to Flag (I 17) last July until the elevation cooled a bit. The o2 manipulator works for me now, dropped temp 15 to 20 degrees, and still get 115 miles or better before the fuel light.

my bike was running pretty lean when I picked it up from the dealer, I took it back in a week later and they tweaked the air bleeds and sorted out the tps. Bike runs cooler now and the headers glow a lot less. I saw those same temps when I first picked up the bike. I don't see over 230F now, even sitting at stop light to stop light traffic.
I don't know about NJ, but I know AZ prohibits lane sharing and lane splitting. I never got a clear answer if the carpool/HOV lane in california can be shared, ie passing cars on the right when the carpool/hov lane is going slow or isn't moving.
