New Hyper fairing ( duckbill ) = $695+tax

This is the red one. With taxes, over $750...
So, just as a reminder, be carefull...
I guess it comes with a Ducati certified mech directly from Italy to install it, balance it, test it at over 500mph, wash the bike after job is done, and you get a "free" coffee mug that says " I`m rich, I own a Duc".
Ah, don`t forget to recycle the old fairing because they use pure gold metal flakes on the red paint, and the plastic has a molecular compound which absorbs drag.
GIVE ME A F______ BREAK !!!

Oh, and don`t ride the Hyper without the fairing, it changes the static, dynamic, and gravitational balance which makes the bike dangerous and unridable !!!

You have my sympathy. I broke the headlight fairing the day I got it loading it on the truck-0 miles on the bike. After talking to the dealer and discovering it was made of crushed diamonds I picked up the many shattered chunks and glued them together, sent away for 7500 Ducati red paint and clearcoat, spent one day sanding, priming and painting. Cost-about 50 bucks. One year later it's still sweet, even better knowing Ducati didn't get their pound of flesh.

I am still sick from this, I just can`t understand how D can ask this much for a piece of colored plastic. My new bike, my longtime dream has a dark side too, first the crapy ride I get from it ( dies at take off and D. don`t give a s___ ) and now this. Whats next ? ...
Before I spend this much on this, I would buy three brand new Power Wheels trucks and give them away to the neighborhood kids.
Thats how much three of them will cost, I just can`t undestand.
Just the same way D thinks we are all rich or stupid, I answer back and will say it here, again and again, until everybody knows or kick me out of here.
Anybody has an explanation for this ?
Perhaps is a way to allow us to feed our egos, by enabling us to say that we have a D, a bike only rich or ignorants will own.
Anybody ?
I just want to understand, and this is the place to ask I guess, if I am doing something wrong, please let me know and I will just quietly remove my name from this forum.

Did you look into cost of ownership before buying a Ducati?

Hell, go price OEM parts/bodywork from any manufacturer. Nothing out of line with what Ducati charges.

Well, a buddy of mine scratched the headlight mask on his '07 KTM 690
SM, and surprise, the big black plastic beak (similar looking to HM beak) was
only $46.25 from BikeBandit.com. For whatever reason, the beak for the 690
"R" version is much more-- $245.00. I don't try to make sense out of parts
prices anymore, but the KTM parts are definitely cheaper than Ducati for
most items you would break in a crash. The plastic HM bits seem particularly
over-priced (handguards, side fairings, headlight).

Makes sense since the KTM stuff is much more dirt bike oriented, they'll go through more quantity.

What I always liked was with Japanese stuff finding that all three OEM's had the exact same part - and one would be almost half the most expensive. Usually Kawi.

The KTM part is Acerbis plastic not painted... the Hyper piece is painted. I think that is where the expense comes in. Plus the Hyper piece is more complex and substantial. Not that I think the price is a good deal or anything - just not really fair to compare those pieces.
