On any Sunday....
Just wanted to share a little story from todays ride...
I was out today riding from my house on the West side of town and took Red Rock canyon out to Summerlin and bomb around the strip etc. On my way back going up Charelston to take Red Rock canyon back home I got behind a guy at a light in full leathers on a red 999. I took off past him and then he passed me while we were getting around some cars. I stayed with him (90ish) all the way to this lookout where he turned off and I continued. About 2 miles down the road I come up to an orange Gallardo spyder stuck behind a mini van. I go to pass them both but the minute he saw me it was on. The rest of the road was clear and by this time I stopped looking for the cops.... I am sure he wasn't trying to hard because I stayed with him all the way. By the time you get out of the scenic area it starts to get a little twisty and this guy is lifting and hitting the brakes, I could not belive it. I was thinking if were gonna do this lets go man!! His car was more than capable... As we come into the straighter sections and start to go again guess who comes screamin by both of us at what seemed 150.. the 999... The Gallardo takes off after him and I get all those little stones kicked up into my face. The road is alot straighter here and I try to stay with them both but they are leaving me and I am doin 120,, its a few more miles and I catch up and we all meet at the stop give each other a nod and continue on our seperate ways. Anyway was pretty cool but I guess you had to be there and no I do not condone that (save it for the track etc) but um..hey I apologize must have been quite a roar with all that Italian steel... James Bond theme would have worked well on the ipod

I think we are all guilty / happy at some stage of doing just that.

Kamperkitjay, just curious is your title of your thread based on the Steve McQueen DVD?
If so quite fitting really!

My buddy was riding his FZ1 home from a trackday a couple weekends ago. He lit up a Porsche to around 120 mph, then promptly had his ass whipped by a Bugatti Veyron (fastest accelerating production car available, with a 250 mph+ top speed). I wouldn't have even know what the hell that was if he hadn't told me. Anyway, I told him he didn't have a hair on his ass if he didn't hit 150 mph.
Out!

Great story. I too get 'sucked' into those spirited rides occasionally but with the weather changing here in SLC it is happening more in the STi than on the 998 these days.
