questions re tuning /o2 sensor
thanks in advance..
1.Is the O2 sensor a 0-1V type ?
2.Can I tune my DP(full system type) using an AF ratio type meter ( as I dont have a CO monitor or anything more sophisticated), checking colour of plugs etc?
3.I'm still waiting on my VDST to arrive , but it is running rich as hell so it will need to be leaned off a fair bit with the fuel trim- the plugs are mostly black carbon at present. Is there a fair amount of adjustment in the VDST?
4.Any idea on how to reduce the 1.5V output of a AA or AAA to 1V so I can calibrate my home made kit O2 sensor?I'm thinking Ohms law.
I like the look of the old fashioned Gunson glass spark plugs but , maybe I should either 1. buy the Gunson Gastester or 2. just pay for Ducati to trim my fuel with a proper machine ( but then, wheres the fun in that?)
thanks again

thanks for the reply. I now have the ...708 ECU which takes no info from the O2 sensor, hence me making the kit so I can read the AFR and lean off the mixture.I had the Fatduc O2 manipulator on the bike with the original ECU- worked a treat.
Oh well, looks like its time for trial and (error).
Thanks again

Do you have a wideband sensor to play with? The stock sensor is a narrow band sensor, and switches a lot leaner than the range you want to be in.
You should be able to get the bike to run very well trimming by feel with the VDST before you get it on an analyzer. Mine runs perfect with the trim @ +12, full LV system, DP 087B ECU, open air box and K&N.

thanks again GMP- sounds like tth AFR monitor I made was just for fun!
When I plug the VDST in , will the trim start at'0'? I imagine it does.
I'll need to wind it back if the plugs are anything to go by ( black and sooty)
thanks

If its a new ECU, it should be defaulted to "0". If its used, could be anything. Also, your TPS could be off a bit if it was not reset. Do you still have the stock exhaust/filter? I started using the DP ECU with the stock cans, LV cat eliminator, and the DP airbox lid with stock filter. Bike ran very good with trim at around 6. Tan plugs and very faint deposits at the end of the cans. If you have the stock lid it could be a lot of the problem, cut a hole in the lid if you havn't done so. Reset TPS and start with Trim @ 6 and you should be in good shape.
