De-cat pipe worth 7bhp gain?

Is replacing the cat, with a de-cat pipe worth a gain of about 7 bhp? I am running termi 2-1-2- with the ECU and Air box lid, might add a K&N air filter too,

It aint the cat removal. I mistakingly spent $1,500 on the DP manifold to go with the slip-ons thinking this would add a few HP. My shop's dyno shows no discernible gain with this mod over just slip-ons with cat

It's a common misunderstanding that a cat causes less HP. It's the mapping and other restrictive things which causes this.

Good mod!

If you remove and replace the CAT with decat tubes and rehook the O2 sensor, you can run the stock ECU, and you will gain better throttle responce,
a deeper/louder exhaust note, few lbs lighter weight, and between 1/2 to 1 HP increase. Aloha Alex

I have the 2-1-2 ecu(308B), fuel trim set at zero, with a DNA filter in a ported airbox, with a Leo Vince cat eliminator pipe, 02 sensor removed, flapper valve servo motor deactivated and removed with cables, stock cans in place. It is a tad louder at idle, but sounds soo freakin sweet whe you wind it up that you don't want to get off of it.

I don't know what the dyno says, but judging by the teeth marks in my seat, I am willing to go out on a limb and say it's waay better than it was before. The Kyle throttle tube works perfect with this combination for daily driving and navigating traffic in general. Just make sure that it is pointed in a safe direction when you twist the grip, because that last half of the twist covers a whole lot of ground.

Anyone know where I can get a zard penta slipon cheap let me know, cause I get a chubby just lookin at one.

This thread sums up these mods pretty well with some good dyno data.

Hyper on dyno

I think the answer is really a complete change in the intake, exhaust, and fueling (adding supporting ECU). This is going to cost you around $1500-1600 on the low end for a new system. I have the Zard system and a DP ECU and it runs well. It is a reasonable (not great) cost for power, but if you factor in the sound it makes the Ducati a Ducati and well worth the $!

Out!
