zip tie on fork tube

can some folks please post pics or take measurements of how far their zip ties on their fork tubes end up after riding? The reason for my question is that no matter what I try, I can't ever seem to use all of the travel, even on the track or after wheelies. I have tried taking a bunch of preload and compression out to see if I can use all of the compression, but no luck. I could bottom the tie on my previous bike (when I had it set up a bit softer) and I regularly do on my track bike (I ate my way into needing a heavier spring and more compression shims).

I am concerned that something might be binded up in there. The fork does feel real stiff to me and doesn't seem to respond too well to adjustments.

So, it sounds like there might be too much fluid in there? That makes sense. I do have a couple jugs of motul racing 5 wt. that I bought to do my last bike before I wrecked it. Maybe I will throw that in there. 2.5 is too light for me( I weigh 210 lbs.).

and you had well over that from the factory right? Did you put the 7.5 back in? I've always used 5 wt. in everything, but that is usually after valving changes.

I have 2.5w and 480mls per leg, will still get lighter springs once we find out the real oil per say!

I have emailed Tony @ racetech with wire diameters etc so we have the facts for everyone.

dude there is no way 480ml is good. I've got 500 in each leg now and just bottomed out after a big wheeeeeeely. big bang that I've never had before.

I'm not so sure about this 5w oil thingy yet. yes its smoother (a lot on the bumps) but I've lost a lot of confidence in the front, I'll wind on more compression damping tomorrow to go to work but I've maganged to lock the front wheel twice and slide it up the road on a test ride.

FYI the cable tie is now 30mm from the casting, I believe that to be the bottom of the fork travel, its about 15-20mm down from before. when the legs were off I measured total travel to my cable tie at 140mm so 20 down from that makes for 160.
