Bad news from Race-Tech
I called Race Tech today, talked to "Tony" the guy with accent, I told him
I would like heavier fork springs, and maybe a different weight oil, he basically
told me "NOT TO BOTHER", and save the money for their 25mm fork kit, which
comes with springs, or they can sell you "modified" dirt bike springs for about
$225.00, and in my case he said that the heavier springs that I would need
would overwelm the rebound dampening, and if I went to a heavier oil that
would help the rebound, it would make the compression dampening harsh, no
matter what settings I use, he also said no matter what I did to the stock fork
was going to be a poor bandaid, and the other downside is that the
springs will not be reusable, if you wanted to purchase the 25mm kit later, as
they use compleatly different springs.
If anyone has come up with a cheap fix to make the front stiffer and work
a little better, please post up!
Since I just bought a Scotts steering dampener & DP race slipper clutch this
week, I'm not excited to spend another $1400.00 on the front end. Aloha Alex

Talk to Jim Lindemann
http://www.le-suspension.com/
He has some experience in setting up HM suspension as well as suspension for many world/AMA champions. Give him a call.

Aloha Alex
I think unfortunately Tony is just telling you the facts, but you should also call Stig Peterson at PPS and see what he has to say.

Well I go about 15 stone and I find the front end too stiff for normal road work, just can't understand why anyone would want a stiffer front end unless they're a monster !!!

See this thread... http://www.norcaldoc.com/index.php?o...&id=18&catid=2
Lindemann can respring, change oil and modify adjusters for about $215.

Allright, I'm 235lbs to 245lbs depending on how much "partying" I did on the weekend, but it's a FIGHTING weight! really thou, for me the forks ARE way too soft, even with the preload cranked all the way, and after a wheelie the front end hits the ground with a LOUD clank! its so bad I don't even like to wheelie anymore. but I'm going to go on a diet soon..... someday soon....real soon... LOL Alex

If you are basing you desire for stiffer springs on the loud clank after slamming the front-end down from a wheelie, I would definitely suggest that you get hooked up with a suspension guru.
A more important criteria would be how the bike handles.
With that said, Jim Lindemann does believe that these bikes are generally sprung too soft. The modification to the adjusters to which DukePilot refers is limited to reshaping the rebound pin. According to Lindemann, that's about all one can do to these forks other than changing springs and oil.

Thanks Peter & Bill, I think I will call Jim Lindemann, to help me with the front end, and maybe also the back, same basic problem, too soft, but just to let you know I have had a suspension "expert" to help me sort out my bike, and its handling much better than stock, but than thers only so much you can do with the sag, ride height, and clicker adjustment, for me the next step would be to get the bike sprung to my RACEING weight! LOL Alex

Am I correct to assume that the S and the standard have basically the same inards except for the bingy coating? The shock is obvious, but if you look on racetech's website, it doesn't even permit you to differentiate between the two.
