help re ECU , anyone in Sydney with vdst?

hey .
Just bought ECU from Ebay ( havent got it yet , but I think it'll all be good) -its the 96518708B ( ie no O2 sensor or EXH valve) to match the Leo Vince cat eliminator/cans I've bought ( and waiting on arrival).
Now the question is , once installed, will the bike be rideable to either the shop ( to have the TPS done) or somewhere else where I can trade a carton of beer for the VDST to be hooked up to reset the TPS?
Also, can the immobiliser be reset too ( ie I want this enabled on my bike)?
Looking forward to getting my bits.
Thanks in advance
jonathan

Jono, i'd just take it to Frasers and get them to fit it & reset the TPS. It'll be a good excuse to check out their new shop. I've never even stayed in motels that are that flash!

Jonathan,

I have the exact same setup, got mine on ebay as well. My ECU was never used, so the trim was at default "0". It fired right up and ran OK, certainly well enough to ride to the dealer if you need to. I have the VDST, and the TPS was not that far off either (3.1). What I found playing with trim on mine is that the bike will idle and run good enough to ride from -15 (lean) to +25 (rich). I would think the previous user (if its a used ECU) most certainly would have had it trimmed in this range. I'm at +12 and mine runs great, although I have not checked it on a sniffer yet. I didn't have to touch the air screws (at approx 11/2 turns out), idles great just tweaking the trim. You can't enable/disable the immobilizer with the VDST, but I think swaping just the ECU has no effect on this.

I'm thinking mine needs a bit more fuel now with new headers. (getting hot hot hot) so if you find someone with one let me know. might be better to post in another forum for someone in sydney, must be a 1098 nut out there with one.

Also for the sydney boys, I noticed a new ducati shop / service place in manly vale has opened up, its tucked a bit out the way but I saw the sign. might see what they have got in the next week or so. could be the old scott walker (??) place reopened.

$165.00 !!! Thats a rip .... as usual.
I have the VDST to suit the Multi, if you have the same generation ECU (IAW5AM) & want to visit Canberra, I will do it for free (well, maybe a beer). Just PM me.
A hint, don't code it, then when you sell the bike you can put the original ECU on it & sell the DP ECU seperately.

Cheers,

Pete I just fueled mine up yesterday with the VDST as mine was also running hot, we took her up to +10 on the scale, very similar to the Mathesis Machine, what a difference in how she runs, talk about much much stronger.

Will do our usual run and pull a plug again to see where she is at, waiting for a K&N filter as well so will prolly have to redo it then anyway.

Hmm interesting. do the plugs go white when its too lean? I can't remember. I'm not even going to bother with a filter, I ride in the wet too much and the open lid lets a lot of water in and soaks the filter. I now use the sponge from my old seat that was on top of the battery and have it stuffed in the gap to the side at the top of the airbox, when it rains i move it over to infront of the hole so rain does not get in.

sounds like i need more fuel.. maybe a trip to canberra coming up.
