Different carbon finishes; wetsand?

Anyone else out there bothered by the different finishes in carbon fiber? From the stock 'S' matte finish, DP and others more glossy finish, and how they really don't match? Or am I just the only crazy one here...

Anyone know if you can wetsand the glossy parts to bring out a little bit more of a matte finish? Or would that just screw up the UV protection, looks, etc...

Thanks for putting up with the crazy; now you all know how my wife feels

poor quality CF

Mine was the same ,I'm getting them sanded and clear coated all in one .
no luck with dealers in Australia "typical here" .

My finsh was crap and the layering was appalling on fork guards and front guard and both exhaust covers
guess good with the bad

importers were also most unhelpful.

If you want all your carbon to match in the matte finish look, have the shiny parts clearcoated with flattener. You'll get the look you want, and added protection.

Borracho, you are not alone. I posted about this in April, and at the time Ducati sent out a Press Release saying that people could now buy race (raw, matt) carbon DP panels, or glossy, lacquered ones. Ahem...

The release was mysteriously removed from this forum shortly after being posted, but it seemed like a total fudge from Ducati at the time i.e. like they had ordered from two different carbon manufacturers (since confirmed as fact), received sub-standard carbon or they ordered incorrectly from one, but *still* fitted it to their bikes regardless, probably for financial reasons.

I, for one, am not paying an extra £1200 mainly get the cool-looking carbon of the S model, only to find that two-of-the-four carbon sections are raw and matt, but the other two have the proper (original) gloss finish. Surely they can't have meant to offer two different types of carbon *on the same bike?*. At the time it cost Ducati a sale, as I was disgusted with their crap response and so lost confidence having had hassle dealing with KTM, and bought something else.

One (ignored) letter to Ducati in Italy later, and a recent visit to a dealer where I saw bikes still with non-matching carbon, and I still haven't bought a HM. Sorry, but this is not a cheap bike by any stretch of the imagination once you add extras, and I am a very fussy customer. When they return to fitting carbon that matches, like they were a year ago, I shall reconsider. It's a bit of a joke to be frank, although why don't you guys ask your dealers to replace all carbon with DP stuff under warranty?

Well; I was mainly speaking of different vendors. All of my stock DP parts on the 'S' match and I actually like this finish (kinda in between matte and semi gloss).

However; if you buy DP carbon parts over the counter, the finish is more towards the gloss side.

I feel your frustration; I hope it works out for you. I really love my Hyper
