picking up my new hm-s tomorrow....tips?
hello, after much procrastination i finally pulled the trigger on a new hyper 's'. I just got a couple quick questions. First, how many miles are usually on the odometer from the factory? also i'm not sure about the quality of the PDI job the dealer might have did so are there any things i should double check? and last but the most important, any good 'break in' tips? thanks

Absolutely, no nanna riding, stick within the book limits to a point but load her up and let her relax, don't just puddle along or she will glaze.
They usually take a good 3 - 4 meters to get used to so use that time wisely then ride her like you stole her.

Warm it up (oil temp) and just drive it.
I did VRO (advanced riding skills) with my brand new HM (about 200kms), no problems at all. Afterwards oil change (important), and with 500km's on the dyno. It has no less or no more HP than other HM's on that bank.

While I had absolutely no issues with various fasteners coming loose after several 100 miles, others have reported some.
It wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on them, especially the belt cover and body work, horn etc. bolts.
Finally, a word about the Ducati button head bolts. The hex sockets are shallow and small diameter vis-a-vis the bolt diameter and the bolt material is relatively soft. As such, they are easily rounded if you don't use a fresh allen head wrench. Even then, I use one of those impact drivers that you hit with a hammer just to break the button head bolts loose. Seems rather absurd on 6mm bolts, but it works. Most fasteners have Loctite or similar thread locker compound from the factory, so if they are not already loose, then they tend to be difficult to loosen. Go figure.
Always use thread locker when re-assembling.

I agree with most.
Beat the snot out of it as soon as possible. Change the oil by 100 miles and beat her some more.
I had 0.3 miles when it was delivered.
Obviously (and punny) YMMV!
