Owners speak up!!Lets talk mileage solutions!!!

I know this has been discused before and I know what miles the average motard gets per gallon. Now lets talk solutions. I've read in these treads Ideas like full system air filter upgrades sprocket changes can slightly boost mileage.I've also read that once the motor breaks in the fuel milage increases. I can already here it" If you want good fuel economy don't by the Hype, it was built for fun not fuel economy!!" Well to late I bought one and Love It.I just want to hear from owners who have modified thier bikes with good results. I know what the full termi system does performance wise, now I wana know how its affected your mileage if any.I want the full system to help eliminate the off trottle lurchyness and for the power.Working for a ducati dealer I understand tradeoffs were made to get the bike into production, hence the sportclassic 1000 airbox on an 1100 motor.Im just curious whats been done help improve the bikes mileage!!Any sugestions???

i ride mine WFO and don't even get 90 miles to the tank.

Fun ain't cheap and cheap ain't fun!!!

SOMETHING always has to "give" regarding riding styles.

However, I do understand your concerns.

All my mods have been done do improve handling and performance (speed) not mpg.

To each their own?

I don't understand. what is there to talk about? If you are concerned go easy on the throttle. I geared up 2 teeth and I did the airbox and exhaust mods. none of this was done with regards to mileage. I got over 40 mpg stock, I get about 43 to 45 mpg now, if I ride easy. If I ride hard I get less. I don't think there are any miracles out there to help you out.

If it looks good & sounds good it has to be good, correct?

Worrying about fuel efficiency while riding a Ducati is like wondering about breakfast while riding a centerfold

Fueling up often gives you more opportunity to chat up soccer moms filling up their SUVs.

An easy mod that may increase fuel mileage might be to dump the hand guard mirrors. I noticed that wind buffeting was decreased noticeably when I took off the stock mirrors. I have the CRG Lane Splitters and they are superior in every way. Adding the windscreen may also increase aero. I am thinking of gearing up a bit as I constantly try to shift into 7th gear. From what I understand you will get the best fuel economy in the RPM range near peak torque. I would also think rear sets would put you in a better aero position and your knees tuck in better. The race seal also puts you lower.

Hello guys. First post here, but, I've been lurking for a few weeks, from which nefarious activity I have learned a lot of good stuff about my new Hyper. So thanks for that!

Anyway, a buddy of mine needed to extend the legs on his BMW HP2, which he's got set up motard style. Like the Hyper, the HP2 carries very little gas. So he bungied a 1-1/2 or 2 gallon fuel cell to the bike's luggage rack. It was simply a red plastic gas can, nothing fancy. He then ran a hose from the bottom of the gas can through a hole in the top of it and connected the other end of the hose to the vent nipple at the top of the bike's gas tank.

It works like a champ. As fuel in the main tank is drawn down, gas from the auxilliary tank is sucked into the main tank until the aux is empty. The vent on the aux tank serves as the vent for both tanks. When it comes time to fill up, he has to fill both tanks, but, that's no a big deal.

Hey, it wasn't pretty, but, it got the job done. He rode the bike from Jax, FL all the way down to Copper Canyon in Mexico and back via New Mexico with that set up. It's nice because it takes him about 5 minutes to ether put it on or take it off his motorcycle and makes the bike more useable in various rolls.

Something like that could, no doubt, be used on the Hyper for those so inclined.
