Warning: electrical wire mis-routing
Hey everyone,
While looking under the seat of a Hyper, I saw these wires were under a bit of strain:
pic of the area
These are tail light wires (?) that are routed to go over the drive pulley for the exhaust valve (which is a moving part). When I pulled the wires off of the pulley, there were areas where the wires rubbed through the green finish on the metal! Eeks.
Might want to check that next time you're messing around in your garage...
Chris

Last thing you need is an electrical fire with a battery and fuel cell right there, great info Chris.
I run the DP ECU and my stepper motor is disabled by the ECU so I have removed my motor and all in its entirety, just unplugged it from the loom with no error lights so it can be done.

Nice save, I'll check those wires right now. By the way, when I was first under my seat I found a wire bundle rubbed down to the copper. The bracket that crosses over the top of the tank has some rubber edging to keep the metal bracket off the wire. I guess it was late in the day after a long night when this part was installed. No trouble though, I just taped it up but I always wonder what else might be slowly wearing away.

I found mine had partially melted to the inside of one of the exhaust cans! Luckily it was just the sheath. As with most Euro bikes, attention to the electricals is a good idea.

After installing slipon
After installing the termi slipons i had removed the sheath that held the lighting wires which ran towards the license plate and turn signals. Now they are close to melting on the exhaust. Wish it wasnt so. But the wires are close to the exhaust cans since i could not see a way to use the molded plastic sheath on the termi slipon exhaust mount.
