When you say "installed" do you mean pulled out rubber plug and inserted slider? I don't have sliders but something looks wrong. I would assume just from your picture, the black part of the slider should be butted up against the frame.I'm sure someone else who has installed sliders will chime in, but until then be careful, this is a critical bolt!

My R&G sliders stick out a ways too. Maybe not quite that far, but definitely similar. The R&Gs also have a billet aluminum stem extending from the frame tube.

I liked the look of the R&Gs best, but the main objective is to protect the bike and maybe get you back home.

Out!

The kit came with a new cross beam bolt (engine mount rod) plus the end thread caps, and the slider eurithane sliders which mount the the ends.... Just looks like it extends out pretty far....

You have them installed correctly. I have them on my HM, and after reading about the frame cracking, I may re-consider.

I am fixing to spring for frame sliders and would like to know about the frame cracking issue as well?

The issue of the frame cracking is what can happen in the event that you do crash and put the sliders to use... Hopefully that never happens, but if so, some people have experienced that although the frame slider reduced some of the damaged, the frame was damaged due to the torque being applied to the frame where the slider is mounted.

Back when I had a Monster and was reading up on frame sliders on the Ducati Monster List website it seemed like the frame damage was hit or miss based on a couple of factors. One being the brand of sliders. Different manufacturers use different material/hardnening methods for the rod they supply to replace the stock engine mounting rod. The cheaper frame slider setups had cheap steel rods which would bend quite a bit before breaking (if they broke at all) which would deform the hole in the frame or bend/crack the frame at the weld. From the research I did, SpeedyMoto was one of the only companies who specifically design their mountin rod to break before bending enough to damage the frame. However, some people still saw frame damage due to the severity of the crash and having a large slider sticking out to instanly snag on things like curbs and grass.

Another factor is the material the slider is made from. The plastic sliders are what I've heard to be the best because they don't tend to "grab" the pavement as much as other sliders which a made from aluminum.

I myself never put my Speedymoto sliders to the test so I can't offer a personal opinion, but as with many things... You get what you pay for.
