license plate bulbs keep breaking ...

ciao a tutti -

nothing new with license plate bulbs breaking on ducs that have underseat exhaust mounted license plate brackets (my mh900e goes through a bulb every few months, and the hypertard has been eating them every month or so) due to imho, the direct mounting of the bracket to the slip-ons (at least with leo vince slip-ons).

so ... i just ordered two (one for the mh900e and one for the hypertard) LED festoon bulbs (festoon is the name of the bulb style):

with the cool white option for the LEDs, they came to $7.40 for the pair, plus shipping.

if these LEDs turn out to be like the LED tail light i installed on the mh900e, it should stop the need to replace the stock bulb every few weeks. fwiw, the stock tail light kept breaking on the mh900e due to the same vibrations. i have over 6,000 miles on the mh900e since i replaced it with the LED, and it has not broken yet.

i just ordered these LEDs yesterday, so should have them installed in a week or so, and can comment more then.

Interesting, I didn't think much about it, but the Motrax LED light I put on my semi-custom tail kit I made for my Zards is blinking on and off (mostly off). It worked fine for several hundred miles, but now it is pretty much shot. I hope it isn't a permanent issue. The light is about $10 at Cycle Gear.
