HM Windscreen Question

Does the windscreen help increase the comfortable speed at which you can cruise without getting hit too badly by wind-blast?

When I go riding with my buddies on 600's, they always leave me in the dust on the straighter sections of the road. Because of their fairings, they can comfortably cruise around 160 - 170 km/h. I can only cruise at about 120 km/h. After that, I have to start fighting the wind-blast too much and it tires me out.

Will the windscreen help out with this problem? I just want something to help take a bit of the wind-blast away.

I just tried out my CF shift-tech windscreen and it helps a lot and you can actually get behind the screen a bit for better air flow and keep up. I did a blast up to 120mph no problem. You'll still get tired out a bit but that's the trade off of the bike compared to 600s or any full faired bike.

I'm 6'2", and the Ducati windscreen takes a lot of the blast off of my chest, making freeway speeds much easier, but it doesn't relieve wind pressure from my head. However, as was pointed out, that's the trade-off with this bike. I don't really like the looks of the screen, but it's functionality keeps it on the bike.

Don't feel bad about not keeping up with your buddies, on real windy days, you will be the one leaving them behind, while they fight trying to keep their bikes on the road.
Here in Texas 30+ MPH winds are common and riding a full fairing bike can get scary.
Over the summer a guy was going about 90mph (according to witnesses) headed over one of Dallas's famous 20 story high overpasses and mysteriously lost it and fell over the overpass...sad to say he didn't make it and some bums ransacked him down below (they were caught and went to jail)...that day, the winds were howling at 30ish gusting to 40mph, my guess is he got blown off the bike.

My favorite that I personally enjoyed was the dipp Sh!t (two cars up from me) who thought doing wheelies down the highway at 70mph with a gusty 40mph crosswind was cool. All the sudden a gust hit my car so bad that I struggled to keep it on the road. Bammmm! I see the dipp riding the wheelie get punched on his side with carnage flying everywhere...he was OK but I'll bet he won't do that again.

Oh yeah the fairing, I have read several articles stating that even the smallest of fairings or even a tankbag can make all the difference.

So you guys with them, how high are they above the existing speedo top fairing?, can someone give me a measure please on how much they stick up as I wouldn't mind a screen on my particularly for the touring part of our riding.

I've had one since new, although I'm sure there is some pressure relief one cannot just sit there and expect to cruise over 120kmh without getting bashed around like a party blonde well, maybe not that rough...

But... I see the need to lean more forward as the speed creeps up or you end up hanging on in discomfort...
I rarely go above 120, which suits me... Ive had a year of not getting caught on my 1400GTR sitting well over 160kmh often so the "lesser" cruising speed of the HM is fine, although it does reach higher speeds on occasions with gay abandon

I just measured it from the top-center of the handlebars to the top of the screen:6"

Cheers man that is excellent, I am looking at fitting a smoke tint screen that is basically quick release.

Just wonna screen for the longer trips and rainy rides, screen I have is off a Z1000 and made by GIVI some looking at hacking it up to fit it.
