The new Monster 1100 is out of hiding...
I'm not quite sure how I feel about... think I'll keep riding my hyper and not worry about it.

well its similar enough to the hyper that some of the aftermarket parts will be the same.... More avalible parts is always good.
I like the monster and have consideres buying one.... not to replace the hyper though.

I borrowed a 696 to get some breakfast while my bike was getting serviced. The entire ride I kept thinking this bike feels like cheap junk. The last gen monsters felt like they where put together, these just feel like ricketty parts bin crap. I imagine the design goal was to make a bike that looks similar to the last gen monster but make it cost half as much to produce.

I'm always happy when Ducati makes a new bike and I don't like it. Saves me a boatload of money.
Hypermotard > Monster
999 > 1098
I am concerned about the 2010 Multistrada redesign though, it could force me to buy a new bike. My 2005 Multi was the best bike I ever owned. HEY, DID YOU GUYS HEAR THAT THE MULTI AND HYPER COME IN WHITE NOW

I think that the Hyper is pretty much ricketty parts bin crap too. I've had bolts break with barely a twist of an allen wrench. Now my Hyper is at the dealer disabled for a week waiting for a new air box and fuel tank(!) because the bolts in both are spinning in their respective retainers and won't come out.
I brought it in to get it tuned with a new ECU and exhaust and they can't even get the air box lid off. Luckily Ducati is going to cover the air box and fuel tank under warranty. This will make a full month that my bike has been out of commission this year between this and the stalling problems I was having.

Borrrring...why dont they bump the compression on the 1100 and get some more power out of the motor. I was hoping for a naked 848 or 1098

I hear ya, I'm the same way. That Monster looks cool, but nearly the panty dropper the Hyper is.

I think "pantydrpr" would make an awesome custom plate.
