Gas mileage question again!
Hey guys,
I just bought a Hyper from a forum member in South Carolina and had it shipped to California. He said he got 45 mpg consistently, well this past weekend I only got 84 miles out of a tank( yeah I got stranded in town, no biggie since wife came with gas can and only a mile from home). 25mpg is really low but the bike runs great.
So my question is, does the TPS or ECU need reset or remapped to California weather/gas/elevation??
Any info is appreciated since I will be going on a 4 day ride next week and want it taken care of before then.

I've run empty at 86 miles too, but I was revving the snot out of it the whole time.
I average about 37 MPG (about 110 per tank) and still have never gotten over 40 MPG.

Hugh variations, depending on a few factors, temps, riding style, use, etc. I noticed a big drop when the temps dropped into the high 40s low 50s here in the AM. There is also a difference if your calculating based on a station to station run or several runs that include warmup time. Mid ride stops always yeild good milage, especially if I'm riding with my Harley buddy who keeps me somewhat honest. For example, I went from mid 30s (commuting in cool AM) to mid 40s (sport ride in the 70s).

My hyper isn't stock, it has dual termis with leo vince cat elim. and that's it enginewise. Part of the 84 miles were canyon riding and then freeway riding at 75-90 and at 70 miles the light came on and so I rode 8 miles to work and on the way back it ran out at almost 15 miles on reserve.
It's weird because I consider myself to be a conservative rider, no wheelies or anything of that sort.
So none of you guys think I should at least get it checked out by a mechanic?
thanks for the replies so far

The riding you were doing? Sounds normal to me. Also seems as if the previous owner may have been either babying it or over estimating their mileage.
BTW - once the light is on - I wouldn't let it go more than 10 miles but that's me

I have the Termi 2:1 full racing kit and my fuel light pops on at 70-75 miles like freakin' clockwork. Getting to 75 miles before the light depends if I ride like a man possessed by the devil himself.
I get gas anytime I near 50 miles. Werloc's stock Hyper goes to 110 miles before the fuel light.

Yeah I'm definitely not going to let that happen again if I can't help it. I just find it disappointing compared to my 1098s that gets at least 35mpg doing the same type of riding. But if that is what it is then so be it, I love it anyways!!
