rear shock preload adjustment

OK, I got spoiled on my Buell with the preload knob.

I bought the two special ohlins spanners...but Dayyuum what a PITA to make preload changes.

Any one want to share some secrets (other than taking it to the dealer)?

I was going in this direction, for a 180 lb rider solo.

FRH- forks lowered to the cap
FCD- 1 turn out
FRD- 3 turns out
FP- 7 turns in (needs a stiffer spring)

RRH +1 turn from stock
RCD 7 clicks out
RRD 21 clicks out
RP .5 to 1 less than stock (also needs a stiffer spring-no static sag and 35-40mm rider sag)

Often if you loosen the top ring and take some/all of the weight off of the rear wheel, you can grasp the spring at the top also grasping the collar, and spin it. Often, you can add/remove preload this way.....
