Service indicator

Is there any way, other than taking it to the dealer, to get the service indicator to go away from the instrument panel?

Buy the expensive dealer ECU tool.

You can reset the service indicator with the VDSTS tool.

How much is that?

Since it's just a picture of a wrench, it doesn't really bother me. It's not like it flashes "MAINTENANCE DUE" or something obnoxious like that.

They are about 200 dollars from technoresearch. Do a search here to find out more about. Good luck.

I found this...it appears to be able to reset the service indicator and then some...
http://www.ferracci.com/store/cart.p...ct_detail&p=68

Looks like a repackage of the technoresearch unit.

$200 is pricy but doing all your own service will save you alot more than that over the dealer.

On Ducati models with separate tach/speedo clocks, the instrument panel has two buttons that perform the same type of switching as the mode switch on the Hyper's left switch block. On these models, like the Sport Classics, you could manually reset the service indicator using this routine:

1. Insert key
2. Depress and hold the left instrument panel button
3. Turn key on with button still depressed
4. Let instrument cluster cycle to "on" mode
5. Turn key off with button still depressed

After this, you restart your bike like normal and the indicator is reset. I have no idea if the Hyper's instrument panel is configured in a similar fashion, but if it is, some combination of holding the mode switch in the "A" or "B" position while keying on and off might work. I had a chance to try it on my GT but haven't reached that mileage yet on the Hyper.
