OZ: Sydney Ride: Saturday 20th SEPT.
I’m taking off on Saturday up Dungog way, anyone ( around Sydney in Australia ) want to join me??
I’ve done it before on the Gilera and enjoyed it, my HM will have had it’s first service and should benefit from the extra revs, oops, I mean the lovely country air….
I was going to meet anyone at the Servo on the northern side of Kulnura, it’s got picnic tables out front (think it’s a Caltex?) at 7.30AM
Fuel up and head out on something like this...
Bucketty, Wollombi, Broke,Onto the Putty, Singleton… fuel top up maybe?
Out on Gresford Road (to East Gresford) on Bingleburra Road to Dungog… have a late brekky with BS, some pics, some fuel maybe…and out…Stroud-Dungog road via Nooroo, Washpool, turning right onto Bucketts Way and down to the Pacific Hwy…
Then I’m lost…for a route … won’t wanna do the boring old freeway and might cut inland via Maitland, Cessnock and across via Pokolbin, Broke, fuel up and down the Putty home…
Just a thought on the route, I’m open to suggestion….but I’ll be up there at Kulnura starting with a cuppa, we’re expecting 31C out west so it will be brilliant!!
Got my little oil-cooler guard today too….

Just fitted it, looks a bit industrial but sure beats getting a stone through the cooler ( and paying for it ), going for a test-ride now to get some milk….any excuse to swing a leg over….

You should meet up before you get out onto the F3, maybe at a servo or something similar. Kulnura is afair way out of syney. Or even after the mooney mooney bridge on the left there is a park/parking area.
I doubt i will have mine back together by then, but if i do ill try and join you.

Be nice if you were back riding by then, don't rush and leave something loose I'll be riding out somewhere nice virtually every Saturday from now on anyway, so no great hurry.
Like I said, I'm easy on the meeting spot, McDonalds is an easy place to meet, one is along the Old Pacific Highway out past Hornsby at MT COLAH ,(street view, move left twice) could meet there if thats easier, atleast one can pig out while waiting
I would usually go across Wisemans via Spencer and up to Kulnura but the east side over Wisemans will still be wet and mossy at this time till it gets hotter, so I'll M7/M2 and through Hornsby up....
If you're ready by then you could meet me at my place, on your way north anyway?....(just off the M7/M5 turnpike)
Think it be nice to hear a bunch of HMs or other ducati's together...
By the way, if you like Mercedes Benz or Ducati there is two Councours d'Elegance happening on both marques this coming Sunday 21st in Sydney, Mercs are at Parramatta Park and the Ducati are at Royal Rehab Centre, Victoria Rd Ryde, I'n going to both during the day, should be a nice sight of some beaut machines!!!!

Holy crap dude. How do people let their tires get that worn out before replacing them. Mine are gone as soon as they hit the wear bars.

It's from being an idiot and spinning it up in the wet. I haven't been riding on it like that
Once a tyre's spent, theres no harm in giving it a good send off!

If you're going up that far you might as well go all the way to the Oxley. There is a section of Bucketty's between Gloucester and Nowendoc that is awesome and the Oxley between Walcha and Wauchope is one of the best sections of roads around.
Mr Ghezzi (that grumpy old fart that hangs around here sometimes ) is in Bris Vegas and has been trying to organise a weekend trip to the Oxley after Phillip Island. I haven't heard from him in a while though

Yes he is grumpy isn't he!
Oh the Wonderful Oxley! Bow down and worship that mighty road. Beats the hell out of Bucketts Way any time - which last time I did I thought was just plain yuck and had lots of road works - that seem to have been going on for years - are they finished yet??
PS Infidel, love your avatar and love the movie too - just cracks me up every time - we still quote bits of it sometimes.
HyperPete, is that a radguard? We bought one to put on the 1098 and had to take it off!! Believe it or not it stuck out far enough (and yes it was fitted correctly) for the front wheel to actually hit and mark it under braking and this was not ever heavy or late braking. Please note this was the actual radiator guard that was the problem! So perhaps you have more room than we have on the 1098, but be aware!

Yeah most of bucketty's is a bit ruff and as you say roadworks everywhere. Last time i was up there was start of April and yep, they were still doing some. But the gravel is ok on a motard But the Glouchester to Nowendoc heading up the hill is ace. The oxley is along way from Melbourne though, what were you doing all the way up there?
