Arrows on the Handlebar Clamp
What direction do the arrows on the handlebar clamp go. I have some pictures of mine before the tear down to get powdercoating done that show them towards the front wheel. I have seen pictures of others after tear down going towards the rear. The manual doesn't say, but they specify the torque sequence as 1-2-3-4-1-2 going in a backwards Z pattern from the lower left hand side of the bike when facing towards the front wheel.
I know it was discussed somewhere but couln't find the reference. I am going to do mine like my old pictures show.
Thanks!
Out!

Didn't the Indians allways point their arrows forward?
Me not backward Tonto!
Usually handelbar clamps (both one and two piece) have a difference in the height of the underside machined surfaces that interface with the top side of the triple clamp. On the Hyper this means with the arrows pointing forward the mating surface at the rear (don't go gay on me here) will make full contact. The front side of the clamp will have a 2mm gap when all bolts are tightened in the proper sequence you mentioned.
If you were to use the specified tightening sequence with the arrows pointing backwards, it is possible the clamp may crack or warp. So Vdue, "Don't shoot yourself"

My experience has always been (with Jappers) that the arrows or dots have always been on the forward side of the bars, and the mating surface underneath that mounts flush with the triple clamp has also been at the front. The tightening sequence with these begins at the front.
On the Hyper with the arrows pointing forward, that mating surface is on the rear side of the bars. This fits with Ducatis tightening sequence starting with the bolts at the rear.
Always check for the finer details before disassembly, if you look at the bar mounts you can see a 2mm gap at the front edge of the clamp with ^ pointing forward.
