Materials

Does anyone know what material the timing cover and the clutch-side engine cover are made from on the as delivered "S" model?

If I want to have these covers anodized black, does it make a difference if the material is aluminum or magnesium?

Planning for Winter; I'll have some stunning (I hope) pictures to share come Spring or an all black HM with real gold trim...

RS

They are made from aluminum. I'm thinking that powdercoating would provide a more durable and better looking finish than anodizing.

I've anodized not billet aluminum before...it gets a bit cloudy and rough. To look right, it needs to be polished and hardened.
Paint or powdercoating would look fine. I painted my clutch pressure plate and put it in the toaster oven to dry it.

not billet = cast. And yes if you annodise it it turns out very blotchy. Search for posts by Fresno, i think he powder coated his case covers. I think the GT1000 covers are black from the factory
