Clutch caught pants, bike hit the ground.

I was rolling at slow speed, standing on the pegs as I went down a 4" curb from where I was parked, done it a bunch before and never anything wrong at all. I've generally got great slow speed coordination and balance. This time the bottom of my jeans got caught in the clutch and yanked my right foot over to the left, already in a bit of a right lean, couldn't get my foot down fast enough and down went the bike. Pants shredded, ego bruised. Sucks but the damage was minimal.

Speedymoto 10 spoke open cover. Anyone had this before? I know of a bunch of fixes, no jeans, taller boots, rubber band, but this is a real bummer. And of course the obvious, cover the clutch. I love seeing and hearing the clutch but I think I need to change the cover somehow. I was thinking that it would be cool if there were some sort of mesh in between the spokes that would keep fingers and jeans out. Any ideas there?

Incidentally, Speedymoto frame sliders also saved most everything on the bike. Right side mirror and hand guard smashed to bits, tiny 2mm ding on frame, scrapes on the rear brake lever and rhs peg and that's really it.

Could've been much worse, body okay and bike not bad, but shitty feeling.

Thanks for the rant.

Sorry to hear that. Now you have an excuse to get some real mirrors and clean up the look of the bars.

Yah, the mirrors are shit, but at the same time, they're so trick and I love the look. I generally just use the left one and occasionally have to pull it in in traffic. I thought about others, but I'm gonna replace the stocker. I love the look of the HM, dual rear pipes and all.

I replaced the original mirrors by "regular" mirrors ont he handlebar. I picked up a pair of Rizoma. Pricey but great for the look. Not big at all and they do not shake. The good think the orignal ones is how wide is the angle...but it's also big in traffic.

good to hear it wasn't worse and the sliders worked as advertised, but this is why I'll be skipping the open covers myself

ditch the britches. wear only shorts and flip-flops. try texting while driving instead of "jumping" 4" curbs.

ps: advise is free around here.

Well, as if your episode wasn't bad enough, you will feel really stupid when you do the same the on the left side because your pant leg got caught on the clutch slave cylinder bleeder.

How do I kow...? Don't ask.

I've been saying it all along, you have to be careful running open covers on the Hyper, because of the forward placement of the pegs.

There are a few options out there that work well. I put a Woodcraft cover on mine, and I love it. The holes are only in the front half, and it even has a replaceable slider piece...
