Pazzo lever install impressions

Sorry no pics yet.

I mounted the shorty brake and clutch levers, black and Ti color combo.
  • They seem to be nice quality units but are a bit heavier than stock (by feel)
  • The long levers don't look like they'll fit
  • They mount easily in just a few minutes
  • The pivot is a bushing-type like the stock levers, not a ball-bearing arrangement like some other brands
  • The levers have a bit of up and down play - not sure if this will increase with age
  • Functionally, they don't seem to be any different than stock
  • If you remove the clutch MC mounting pin on the handlebar so you can slide the clutch lever closer to the grip, you could get 3 fingers on the shorty lever pretty easily.

Overall impressions:
I like the shorty brake lever but not yet decided on the shorty clutch. I have an STM slave cylinder for the clutch so the lever pull is not too bad unless you are stuck in traffic for a long time.

Value for the money:
They are pure bling but not really visible to anyone not riding the bike. I personally like the look but I think I would rather spend the cash elsewhere, or at least spend the extra cash for levers with a ball bearing pivot.

Okay, since I've had mine on for a while now, I feel like a rebuttal is in order...

  • They seem to be nice quality units but are a bit heavier than stock (by feel)
Well, you really don't notice that when you're riding, and the bike still wheelies, so the extra weight doesn't seem to matter.
  • The long levers don't look like they'll fit
They won't, inside the stock handguards. Good call getting the shorties!
  • They mount easily in just a few minutes
Agreed!
  • The pivot is a bushing-type like the stock levers, not a ball-bearing arrangement like some other brands
They work perfectly well. I never feel any stiction in the levers.
  • The levers have a bit of up and down play - not sure if this will increase with age
Again, not something I ever notice when riding. Not concerned.
  • Functionally, they don't seem to be any different than stock
No, they're just levers, after all. But they cost less than half of what the stockers cost, so if you need a replacement, you'll be thankful. You may not need to replace them anyway, because in a minor tip-over, they are less vulnerable than the long stock levers.
  • If you remove the clutch MC mounting pin on the handlebar so you can slide the clutch lever closer to the grip, you could get 3 fingers on the shorty lever pretty easily.
I tend to use three fingers on my clutch lever as they are. Works just fine...

I disagree about functionality. The adjustment range is better than the stock levers. They also allow you to fit other aftermarket handguards options which won't work out of the box with the stock levers.

Scott - i've also removed the locating pin. As you say it allows you to move the MC along the bar, and also rotate it.

I didn't really mean for that post to be negative - just sort of matter-of-fact for someone who hadn't seen them in person and might be considering a few different models.

Point on cost vs. replacements well, taken. I had already decided to order mine before I trashed my clutch lever at the track, LOL.

I think the reviewer is spot on.. and for the price they should have the ball bearings, and they should not have slop up and down... which will increase. Its just a matter of the bike feeling solid and well put together. Anyone should expect that from a expensive quality aftermarket accessory. Sure once your riding you don't notice almost anything... I don't even hear the wind most the time... But when I pay the price as I have before I want the upgrade to be nice. Its like getting on a new bike after riding your older bike for a couple years... all the controls are nice and tight and everything feels solid... that should be what you get when you pay that price for Rizomas... but if you just like the look then no prob either.
