Olhins vs Scott Rotary Damper
I am looking for a rotary steering damper for my HM and will pick either the Olhins or the Scott unit. Does anybody know why there is such a difference of price between the Scott and the Olhins? Are they the exact same damper? If no what will be the difference? The outside looks the same. What about the techincal part inside, the valves..? Is Olhins a better quality damper.
Thanks for any feedback.

Biggest difference, that I've noticed, is the Scotts is an undermount and the Ohlins is overmount. I'd bet the cost is due to the name recognition. Ohlins bought either the company or the rights to the dampener.

The Scotts is the bees knees. Mounted under the bars it looks GREAT ... functionally it can't be all that different.
I speak from having no experience with either one of these products for the Hyper.

I am very happy with my Scotts so far. Be advised that it raise the bar height approximately 10mm.

As far as I know the Ohlins is the exact same as the Scott to the point where I thought they'd bought Scotts dampers.

Somewhere in the paperwork that came with my Scotts it says it's manufactured under licence from Ohlins or something like that.I'll double check when I get home. But basically I think it's exactly the same.

Scotts & Ohlins are the same thing....Rotary wise that is.... Ohlins builds the rotary dampner for scotts.... The only thing Scotts makes is the top plate of the dampner. (maybe the mounting hardware) but the Dampner itsself is the same
If you look at some Scotts Dampners they have Ohlins engraved in the front of them.... Or if you have a real old one like me that is from Sweeden it says Ohlins right on the top plate, purchased 2 years before Scotts even sold them in the US...

Thanks
I ordered the Scott damper today and will install them as soon as I receive them. I will post the difference in handling when mounted.

damper
Just a question.
This was pointed out to me at the track today...
How come most pro racers (motogp, wsbk) dont use the rotary type, but instead they use the 'linear' type damper??
