Melted Termi sticker

Has this happened to anyone else? Mine is on a 2n1 full system. Thoughts/concerns? Bike has built engine with dual hole airbox mod with filter, HC pistons, cams, and flowed heads. Bike runs awesome without any stalls or pops/backfire on decel. 1800 miles and tuned on dyno-will try to post pic. This was the first time bike was ran hard/topped out. Not sure what GPS would be but the dash displayed 147 while tucked with elbows and factory mirrors out-stock gears/tires, light flashing and limiter kicked in. Bike will not be ridden like this very often but was on a rabbit run with the liter bikes on a long straight; so I had to at least see. I had to get gas in some strange places so maybe one did not actually have premium in their tank. Ideas/Concerns? Thanks in advance.

Just tell everyone the sticker wasn't designed for 147 MPH and that this happens due to the air friction at that speed.

After all, isn't that why we buy all the carbon fiber--to keep the burn to a miniumum?

Might want to check your air/fuel. A lean condition could cause your muffler to get too hot, and THAT would be the least of your problems.

My thoughts also but it was fine the last time on the dyno without any changes since unless a airleak or something developed but it seems it would not run very well in that case, which it runs fine.??

you can get those stickers virtually anywhere. i bet your dealer has some. if not, call up Pro Italia or BCM and have them send you a set.

Or, just remove them. If it can happen once.,....

Thanks bro, I do like the sticker but I really wonder what everyone thinks if there may be a more serious problem or if this is a common thing? Thanks for the heads up on the sticker.

You may already know all of this but just in case...

Diagnose plugs to see if there are any signs of running lean. Looking for beige (light tan) color on insulator with minimal carbon deposits. White insulator normally indicates things are a bit too lean (could be type of fuel, not enough fuel, or too much air). Could be a timing issue but you said it seems to be running fine so I would initially eliminate that.

Also, what temp are you seeing when you ride?
Note: At 340°F+ the instrument panel will read "Hi" (per manual).

If all these are normal then I would check to make sure your carbon cover is not in direct contact with the exhaust system. I have the 2-2 Termis and there is a sigificant air gap between the CF and the actual exhaust system. If the 2-1 has a real CF "can" then ignore this paragraph!

Good luck!

Reading the porcelin on a set of plugs doesn't necessarily help to determine jetting or air/fuel mixture. Here is a link to a better way to read plugs.

Out!

Yep, I agree. But it will give you a reasonable symptom to determine if one needs to dig deeper.
