Zard Penta
I just installed a full Penta system on an 07 Hypermotard. I removed the butterfly valve motor with the stock exhaust, it's not part of the Penta system. Now I have an EOBD light with the fault code for the butterfly valve motor. Any one know of a work around.
The Penta system sound, looks and performs great. The one problem besides the EOBD light is the front pipe mounting tab does not align with the isolation mount. Zard America is helping with the issue but no resolution yet.
Any one install a Zard Penta?
Thanks
Tom

You accompanied your Zard system with a DP ECU, right? You might be able to work around the indicator light by keeping the valve motor in place but if you still have a stock ECU you'll be operating in closed loop mode. Then again that's another topic of 02 sensors, etc. Do a search and you'll find tons of info.

Yeah he definitely has the stock ecu or he would not get the error code. I drove with the error code and other then the annoyance of it, it causes no problems. The Penta is my choice when the time comes for me to fork over the cash on a new exhaust. Good luck with the install.

Stock ecu for now. I think I can wire the plug from the valve motor to close the circuit. I need to look at the electric schematic to determine the correct "loop". I'm not very good with electrics so any suggestions would be helpful.

Not that easy. The motor is a servo that has position feedback, so the ECU knows if the motor has under or overtraveled and it will also throw a code. The fix is to make a limiter plate with two stops, that work with pins in the servo pully where the cable anchors were (cables removed). I'll try and get a picture, I've been busy. DP ECU is much better solution for a number of reasons.

Thanks Glenn, I think I'll go with the DP ECU, which was part of the longer range plan anyway. Tom

Well show us pics of the Penta installed.
What kind of a deal did you get on it? Was it a pain to install?

Don't know how to post pictures, sorry. I bought it through San Antonio Power Sports, they were about $100 less than most and they had them in stock. Very easy install. A few problems as mentioned above but not enough to change my mind on the choice. The tail piece is well thought out and engineered to a high standard. I think it looks better than the side mount choices that other manufactures offer, but that's just my taste.

San Antonio Powersports? Where's it at?
Also, can the DP ECU be purchased seperately? I'm talking about the ECU that's supplied with the 2-1 Termi w/ air filter cover.
