Amazed...300kms & happy !

Wisemans Ferry this morning sometime...

Had the baby for 3 days and took it out for a little ride today.... although I've done a few hours during the week nights, this was the first time I'd seen it in daylight.. very nice.

Supposed to get to 20C today, don't think it got past 12

Took all the lesser roads up to Windsor, then to Wisemans Ferry, still running it in and getting used to it...

When I got past PitTown I was in heaven... what a brilliant ride this is!! I found the front a little harsh, more on that later... meanwhile, didn't want to be daring but I was enjoying double+ on the advisory signs around some of those divine bends.. love that road!!

By the time I got to Wisemans I was a little cool.. but happy. Apart from the absolute fun of riding this beauty, when you stop you don't seem to get time to settle before someone starts talking about it... LOL..

Nothing too fast, till the way back, by then I was getting much more used to it and loving it more around each new bend, although I had some messy lines on some occasions

Clouds gathered, rains were expected, but got a good view over one hill and it looked OK for a few more kms of fun... Back through Penrith, huge traffic, where I folded the mirrors in and cut through the lines of garbage stuck between lights, great splitter!!!

F**k I love that exhaust... can imagine it with some of the accessory pipes!!

Down Mulgoa Rd, Wallacia, The Oaks and Picton, back via the old Razorback road...

Covered about 450kms and it's a dream...

But, reset the suspension to "std" this morning to start learning the suspension, and noticed that the front preload nut (22mm spanner) supposed to expose threads/height to measure about 10mm.... but, I opened it and closed it but it didn't raise at any point... what's the deal here??? am I misreading the directions, they do picture a threaded part with the measurement in the owners-book...

The front felt rather harsh and 'skippy', particular over bumps... the rear was fine if a little soft but seemed to be fighting with the harder front end...I can see that once I get to know the set up it will be such a brilliant ride!!
Any suggestions on my no thread issue would be helpful

what a bike

The manual is wrong. The external nut turns an internal cam that preloads the funky fork spring.

And...I bet you cannot dial out that highspeed damping issue. Ghezzi's 5 weight fork oil mod is apprently an improvement. I have it on good authority that the springs are inadequate for even the lightest of us. Ya gotta get your springs right before finalizing the damping...I think.

Anyway, hours of reading on this subject are available in previous threads.

P.S. I have had an embarrasing number of bikes over an equally embarrassing number of decades. This Hyper (even with OE suspension) is my personal favorite. I congratulate you on your choice.

Pete, On you way thru Wallacia you probably rode past Terry Hay's front gate! I've been meaning to pop out there and get him to play with the hyper setup for a while.

most likely did, who is Terry Hay, presuming it would've benefited if I'd stopped there?

I've since reset everything to std again, with +3 turns on the front preload, and did a little research on settings...then ofcourse the rains came and didn't stop till sometime late last night
but, did manage a bit of housework and shopping which was/is currently in neglect due to the amount of fun I've been having

also worked out the toolkit entry (didn't wanna break it till I new how it worked...added a small velcro strap to cover any pending broken o-rings.... and, manage to fit a small seat bag as well... so I'm ready to get the miles up.... no doubt again at night during this week

luv it

Thanks for the link !
I took it out again tonight just for about 90km, mainly city... (just to listen to it ) and the front end was much more supple after doing the 3-turns from the left... wait for the weekend to get more used to it...
Getting the racing seat tomorrow, hope I like it but can't rush into the goodies just yet, gotta do a major service on the 1400GTR, that'll cost me big

[quote=mountainrider;470713] I have it on good authority that the springs are inadequate for even the lightest of us. Ya gotta get your springs right before finalizing the damping...I think.[quote]

One of my suspension Guru's calculated the springs to be around .80kg/mm which is ball park for my 80kg + gear. The springs have a diminishing coil diameter from top to bottom which look odd and make it hard to calculate. I've seen various claims by others rating them from .65kg/mm up to .95kg/mm.

It could just be that some want to sell more springs.

5w oil will dramatically reduce the harshness in the front which is primarily caused by the high speed compression damping being too hard.
