After bragging about reliability my bike shut down today

I was cruising down the road and the thing just shut off! I had no throttle respones so I pulled the clutch in and rolled about 300 yards and barely made it to a gas station....filled it up and off I went. 22.5 miles on the reserve is just a little too far I guess. 108.5 miles total.

Had the same thing happen to me two days ago, only there was no gas station near by to roll into, just stuck on the highway. My fuel trip was at 22 miles as well. I wish Ducati mentioned that in the manual.

Now we know...

Good info to have... from now on, I should expect to get, let's say, 20 miles on reserve. Thanks for takin' one for the team.

Well Well, shame on you guys. That means you don't at least skim through every post on the forum. Several people have tested this theory for you before. 21 miles on reserve is all you get but why tempt fate fuel light on must get gas.

If you have more then 50 miles on the tank, never pass up a gas pump is a rule that has served me well. I fueled up 5 times on a recent 300 mile ride. My fuel light come on after I burn 2.4 gallons, I keep intending to carry some fuel just to see how far I can get on "reserve". I have heard some people use 2.8 gallons before their light comes on, some maybe I might have more "reserve range"?

I've had the light come on at the shortes 87 miles all the way to 97 miles. I was warned 20 miles was the limit when I bought the bike. I lucked out though. When road tripping I carry two MSR bottles just in case.

Well, I took mine out for it's first day-long ride yesterday and filled up at 165km (101Mile), obviously riding a little less spirited as I am getting used to it, but -

I paid $USD5.14 per gallon (converted $1.59 Oz/litre) for premium98, it delivered 4.84 l/100 (48.5 us/mpg; 58.3UK mpg)...

But all this seems irrelevant, in reading all of the above, as I would have had my reserve light come on at any moment and wondered why I didn't fill up at the last town

I've also read up about the smalltank/range and do as lelenb indicates, fill up at regular intervals/miles.
I used to plan the ride for the road type, now its for the road-type and fuel stop intervals, but, don't mind one bit.... it's a joy when it's got fuel I must say

I start looking anywhere close to the 100 mile mark.My low fuel light sucks but I just use the trip meter that always works.
