tell me about your mirrors

Tell me about your mirrors

There is a guy on Multistrada.net that has hyper mirrors and hand guards on his bike. He bought it that way.

I have the FAR mirrors on my multi and cant be more disappointed in them. Im thinking bar ends and custom blinkers. Until I saw this. To me it looks awesome, but how well do they work? I dont lane split, I dont do track days.

I love the stock set up. Easy to see through the mirrors, and the turn signals are very visible. More than most bikes.

Werlock loves his, I hated mine. I think you're gonna get some pretty diverse answers. Bottom line: If you like them, go for it!

I love my stock mirrors too. They're the best set I've had on a bike. I can see more behind me with these mirrors than on any bike I've owned in 23 years. One of them vibrates more than the other but I can actually control that a little bit by gripping the bar tightly on that side. Yikes.

I'm a bit torn over the mirrors/guards/signals. It's a tidy design for sure and the bike looks fabulous when it's parked with the mirrors folded in. I suppose the biggest drawback with this design is the width of the bike with the mirrors out, but the setup is also expensive, fragile and a bit fussy to adjust.

As an example, I took a long ride into the canyons west of Denver yesterday. I always fold the mirrors in when I park the bike because I have limited space, so I pulled them out, adjusted them and then tried tightening them a little differently than usual. Both mirrors wound up flopping around for my entire 15 minute highway ride. I stopped for gas and readjusted and re-tightened and they were fine for 60 miles of foothills riding. No matter what I do, my left mirror vibrates a little and my right mirror is rock solid.

Last week, I almost bought the DP mirrors with signals along with the DP handguards but I think I'll live with the stock setup a while longer.

I like the stock, I'm afraid of overtightening so they vibrate more than they should but I've got big hands and have broken plastic bits like that in the past.

To answer the thread title - mine are glass and have a reflective coating on the back of them allowing me to see what is behind me while riding

I like the stock mirrors, but they're just too wide. I lane split like a MOFO, so I just ordered a set of bar ends and CRG Lane Splitter Mirrors.

Hopefully that'll help clip this birds wingspan a bit and ease traffic navigation.

The next issue is where I'm going to get/mount turn signals...

I like the mirrors, but they don't stay where you set them very well. Also, if I want to know how many bikes are behind me, I count the headlights in the mirrors and divide by 4.

+1 to the letter, only thing I'd add is that I feel a bit wierd about replacing what I consider a large visual part of the Hyper that isn't broken.
