WTF is Stoner smoking??
Seriously, I think he may be sampling some wacko tobacco??
Stoner reckons catching the Italian will be almost impossible.
"We have six races to go and these are the ones we have to look at now," Stoner told a news conference at Misano. "It has been a disappointing couple of races, mainly the last one.
"But considering we've done 30 races with Ducati and this was my first crash in a race, so I think it's acceptable."
I guess Laguna isn't considered a crash? Hmmm

What you been smokin boy?
Laguna wasn't a crash it was more just parkin it. A stop and go penalty as it were.
It will be difficult to catch Rossi now, but look at 2006. Hayden had it in the bag with 2 races to go when Pedrosa steps in with a sub contract (hit) for Yamaha and takes him out. Then Rossi was in with a big chance in the final race and takes himself out.
Six races to go means Rossi has six chances to blow it.

I'm pulling for Stoner and am looking forward to some (hopefully) close racing. But, I think Rossi is inside Stoners head and we all know what happened to Gibernau and Biaggi when Rossi got in theirs. I'm hoping Stoners got the mental fortitude to not crack and fall apart like the previously mentioned riders
I think Ducati's biggest problems were races 2-5 when Stoner and the bike were not in sync. Stoner needs to try too hard to overcome the deficit from that period and that leads to mistakes. Regardless, even if Rossi wins it Stoner will have a 2nd place and that ain't bad for a little company like Ducati.

I was just questioning the 'crash' part.
Laguna was a crash.
When your bike is on it's side and off the track - most people would call it a crash.....

If you crash, but still finish in 2nd place, it really doesn't count. He's just saying that Brno was his first non-finish due to a crash...

A bike out of control on it's side is a crash. Laguna was a crash.

Reminds me of Felipe Massa in Melbourne in 2007 after hitting the wall in practice: ...Luckily we the car is ok.
JT 10 minutes later: ........we had to change the monocoque because it was cracked....

Yeah even if Stoner goes on a big hot streak and wins the next 3 races or so, Rossi is just riding so strong right now, its hard to think he would finish worse then 2nd or 3rd. Just going to need everything to go perfect the next few weeks to try to give him a chance.
Obviously a 1st for Stoner and maybe a little crash for Rossi this weekend would be huge and hopefully can give him that extra confidence he needs to get him back in this championship.
