Exhaust Exhausting my Bank Account

First off I know, what the hell is taking me so long to rack-up 600 miles on my bike - It's that damn thing called work, it keeps on getting in the way!

So, I pick-up my Hyper this past June and like most, I started looking at what exhaust system do I NEED, not want, but NEED.

After some research, I decided on the Zards -Top-Gun, Full system, with out the DB Killers, a PCIII, and a BCM Air filter. At that time, I was led to believe that this is all that I needed, so I was pretty happy, got a total cat back system and saved a few bills compared to the full termignoni system.

So Fast forward to today, I'm talking to the Service guys and we are looking at all of the exhaust goodness and someone says " hey were is your DP ECU, you know that we can't fully tune the bike in because, Bla, Ba, Bla, Bla, flat spot in RPM range?" I'm like shit, when we ordered all of this, we were a solid "Good to Go". Long story short, I have to order the DP ECU and Cam kit to get the Zards fully tuned.

So let's see what my total bill is now:

Zards TG Full system - $ 1200.00
PC III - $ 300.00
BCM Air Filter - $ 67.00
DP ECU & Cams - $ 850.00
In-stall & Tune - $ 850.00 - est +/-
600 mile Oil change - $ 180.00 - est +/-
------------------------------------------
$ 3,447.00 + add tax

The look on my wife’s face when she comes home tonight - Price less!

At least the Hyper will sound - Bitchen!

Just keep your eye on ebay (and here) for a DP ECU. The one from the Termi 2-1 kit will be fine. They usually sell for $350 - $400.

Make sure you know what you get as there 3 DP ECUs:
- the one that comes with the DP underseat exhaust,
- the one with DP race exhaust (DP EVO ECU),
- and the best one that comes with the DP race cam kit (DP RACE ECU).

$ 850.00 to put the cams in and tune? They are taking your for a ride. To put the cams in is 1.5 hours, they slide right in from the side of the heads, so what's the other $ 700 for?

I remember not to long ago when the Cam/ECU kit was just under $ 600.00, guess everything goes up. The cams are worth it, you will like the end result.

Hey Cassos, if my DP ECU scrolls accross my screen as R-A-C-E, which ECU do I have? The part # is 96519308 B.

I have fitted Zard Top Gun slip-ons and cut a 2" hole in the airbox lid. The bike ran so rich I lost 20hp, so I plugged the hole in the airbox and put the standard ECU back on. Could it be a DP cam ECU?

The 96519308B cam ECU drops 18% more fuel over stock on avg, the 96518708B for just the Termi adds 8 - 10%. If your running just the slip ons I would think the #193 would be way rich, thats why I waited to find a #187 on ebay. The #187 would be fine and adding a PCIII, while making it perfect, is not a must. I was able to trim down my #187 to run with the stock cans for now and it runs great, not too rich, still getting 37 - 40 mpg commuting.

If he already has PCIII it doesn't matter, as fuel can be subtracted, the important thing being the open loop function.

The install price sounds really high. I don't see why you need the DP Ecu and Cams. Why not just the DP Ecu that comes with the 2-1 Termis.
