SpeedoHealer
Well, I installed a SpeedoHealer tonight and it works like magic. I adjusted it to -7.0% to correct for the speedometer error and it was near perfect up to 50+ mph according to my GPS. I think I might need to go a little further to around -7.2% to correct for higher speeds, as it seemed like it was just a hair behind at 65 mph. I installed one on my FZ1 years ago and can't believe I waited this long to do it on the Hyper. I bought the new V4 model that just came out. Anyway, it is a very nice product for around $110 purchased from Cal-Sportbike.

Here is a picture of the wiring that I did splicing into the stock speed sensor. I soldered and shrink wrapped everything, then added a final wrap of black tape around the outside so it looks clean. You wouldn't know it is there. I ran the computer module wire up to the right side fairing that houses the ECU and mounted it there under the panel. It is easy to get to and out of harms way.

If you spliced into the speed sensor wires, does that mean you have altered the signal prior to ECU, which then adds 8% to the signal sent to the dashboard.
If that is so, does our ECU use the speed reading in any way with regard to fuel/ignition maps? If so, how would this effect the bike? When it comes to electronics, I get techanically challenged.

hmmm...
I thought the pickup for the speedo was on the rear wheel not the front sprocket, so where is the error from?
Is it built into the bike design to read high?

Well, just when I thought I had all the gadgets I needed...
Does this thing also correct the odometer?
Answer: Yes it does according to their FAQs.
BTW, I need this more for my KTM Adventure since I often use mileage-based rollcharts and it reads an annoying 10% high.

By design per the useless owner's manual.

Every bike I've ever owned was off. They all read high by about 10% so this one being closer to 5% was kind of nice I just don't worry about it, the 7% (my 5 number was just quick math in my head looking at the GPS) is a nice cushion when I'm going 10 over anyway.

One of my biggest pet peeves on a bike is the safety Nazzi's, assuming I can't control the throttle and I need to believe I am running faster than reality.
IMO, all the bike manufacturers should get a class action suit slapped on them for stupid shit like this. Give me something that works or a $100 rebate to make it work.
As far as I know, no other function of the bike are modified. My ODO is not off, but I will check it and compare on my next road trip this weekend or next to see.
The SpeedoHealer is money well spent and not too much of a hassle to install if you are comfortable cutting wires on you $12-15K bike.
Out!

I did a little more testing this morning and set the SH calibration at -7.2%, which gets the speedo mph exact at from 40-80mph. It reads a little fast on the low end and a little slow on the high end, jus like on my FZ1.
I also checked my odometer and it appears as though it does affect the readings as well, but not on a equal basis. In about 8 miles it was showing about a -6.2% adjustment. So over 100 miles, you are gonna see about 6.2 miles less on the trip meter.
I guess I will live with that, as I want to know what speed I am going.
It definitely has not affected any other perfomance of the ECU or elsewhere on the bike, that I can tell from the seat of the pants testing.
Out!

Maybe I'm just cheap, but why pay for the gadget if you're already aware about the 8% its off? Honestly i like that it shows high. Keeps me much closer to legal. could be 10 times worse and give a slower reading.
