Talking Breathing Easier

In the never ending search for new toys for the Hyper I got a Beast R Intake for the bike. The stock air box goes away as does several of the plastic pipes. It is way cool, bike runs better and the sound (intake) is awesome. This is the second kit we have in our riding group and it will not be the last. Available at TPOparts.com. Also just added an EVR slipper clutch............I love it
Better go have to get to my part time job..........for Ducati parts.

did you have to do anything to adjust your ecu, or did it run fine without. I've been considering the kit, but I am very happy with my present fueling with the DP ECU and I don't feel like spending $300+ for a power commander and $150 for a dyno tune.

I am curious about this too. I was thinking of the Beast, myself.

Out!

I'm also considering this. My local dyno shows an increase of 7 HP to the rear wheel on a built multistrada with the standard beast.

The only concern I have is dirt getting by the filters and getting sucked thru the intake, though the outerwears may eliminate this issue

If you have a DP ECU, you should be able to get the Beast R setup to work well by simply adjusting the fuel trim with a gas analyzer and VDSTS.

Hey Peter did you do a pre and post dyno run when you installed your Beast R?

Really?

It's my understanding that the VDST only works the 'off idle' part of the graph???

Is this not true?

Yes, I compared it to an earlier dyno run (blue/red) with the LV exhaust, DP airbox lid/BMC filter and DP ECU from the cam kit. The green/purple is with the Beast R, and my initial run with the Rapidbike module. It was very rich. I leaned it out considerably after this dyno run after looking at the A/F ratio but didn't put it back on the dyno. It should read even higher with the leaner mixture. It does run a lot better with the leaner map/trim setting. Although the Beast R is designed to add power from mid to top, it did a good job at lower rpms too.

The ecu remained unchanged however the dealer did hook the bike up to an analyzer and made minor adjustments. It rocks.

Not entirely true, as far as I know... the fuel trim adjustment affects fuel delivery across the entire rpm band by lengthening fuel injection pulses. Adjusting the fuel trim does not alter the actual fuel map within the ECU. It has the greatest effect off idle though the lower 1/3 or so of the rpm band. You can get the Beast R to run well with just the DP ECU and fuel trim adjustment. To optimize the fueling and performance, you will need to experiment with different fuel maps using a PCIII or Rapidbike module.
