squeeky brakes

Just before the bike stops the front brakes vibrate and make a loud noise, I cannot find anything wrong with them, the discs, calipers, caliper brackets, the pads dont move the discs relative to the calipers when the bike is tested at a standstill, and the bike has a very 'hard lever' with no sponginess which can mean pads/ calipers are not square to discs, I have pulled pads out and scuffed them on concrete to no avail I have checked the pucks are free??????anybody?? Breakout

You squeaky front brakes are most likely just your carbon fiber front fender resonating. Put a rubber washer between it and the mounting posts and your noise should go away. Flick your front fender with your finger and listen to it rattle.

I tried the rubber grommet between the fender and mount point...that didn't work for me at all. I complained to my dealer and they resurfaced the pads (sandpaper) and the noise went away for about 10-15 stops and then it came back. I'm tempted to try different brake pads to see if it's the pad material. Heard that Brembo has a different compound that is quieter...

Try scrubbing your rotors with some brake cleaner and scotch pad to remove residue.

Most brake squealing is caused by a high frequency vibration of the brake pads. Clean everything as mentioned above but put a thin coat of RTV on the back of the pads. This will dampen the vibration. You can buy specialized products at any auto parts store but the cheap stuff worked for me on my rear brake.

That's a great suggestion....my modification time has been spent on levers and clutch mods.

It happens with the Hyper front and 696 rear. All covered under warranty. Expect a month for pads to come from Italy.

Same thing with my bike.

Mine still does it with different pads and the front fender off. I`m gonna try that stuff for the back of the pads.

I used to have this issue on my 749 when the pads were cold in the morning along with shuddering. I changed over to EBC-Green pads (I think) and it went away. I don't think the stock Ducati pads are so hot.
