DP steering damper

Hey 'Tards,
Just opened the package containing the DP damper unit and found it oily. Is the unit defective? There was no visible oil in the packaging, just covering the unit. Thanks.

Most likely an anti-corrosive solution, just like your new bike when they unpack it.

Clean, install, use, inspect. Return if faulty.

hi

How was the install? Easy to do or tricky? I am just an average joe as far as installs are concerned and I wonder if I can save a couple of box by doing it myself.

If it was the black one made by FG that cross mounts then it's leaking, 90% of them do and I had already two that went back to the dealer because, they were already leaking in the package and not it's not some protective spray. The o-rings on the shaft are the problem.
