I had some free time this evening so I decided to do a few "free" mini-mods.
Going back to when I first test rode a Hyper at the dealer my biggest complaint was the sloppy throttle. There was a ton of dead space before the throttle actually did anything and that made the bike feel a bit snatchy. So, I took a minute today and pulled up some slack in the twist grip (per the instructions in the owner's manual). The bike is INSTANTLY more responsive to my inputs - it's a hair trigger, now, just like I like it. Can't wait to install my Nichols flywheel and basket.
The second thing I did was take the belt covers off. One of the allen bolts was missing anyway, so I figured I should take out the rest and see what it looks like. I have to say that a 4-valve bike looks way cooler without the belt covers, but the Hyper doesn't look too shabby. I don't plan to run any pulley covers, but a Shift-Tech carbon belt cover may be on the horizon. For now, I'll let 'em breathe. Anyway, I think it gives the bike a very cool "mechanical" look ... and since I'm a mechanic I'd say that's right up my alley.
I also took the rubbers out of the foot pegs ... best improvement I've made so far. Both the shift lever and the brake pedal are more accessible.
The last thing I did was re-install the DB killers on my Termi under-seat slip-on. I hate that friggin' can ... it just drones. I can't wait to get the Arrows ... they HAVE to be better than the Termi.
While I was doing all this I noticed that the jackhole who worked on my bike at the dealership managed to strip one of the holes in my subframe for my side plastic

, and he also managed to overtighten on of the bolts and shattered the plastic's tab. Obviously I'm going to raise hell at the dealer on Monday. Can you say, WARRANTY? I knew that you could...
Oh, and I opened up the tool kit compartment to remove my tool kit and make some quick storage space. Can you guess what I found inside the fairing? TA DA!! ... nothing.

I mean, c'mon, it's not the biggest tool kit but it's a tool kit that I paid for. What the hell?!? For the $$$$$ I paid, gimmie my f-in tool kit!!
Anyway, that's the update on the free to me mini-mods. I can't wait for Sunday when I can put the Hyper through its paces with the adjusted throttle. Wheelies should come even easier...
PS: I still have my emissions canister in place.
